Review of Tony Jaa Box Set - Ong-Bak/Warrior King (Collectors Editions) (Box Set) by culloty21

Advantages: Some of the most amazing martial arts scenes ever filmed
Disadvantages: tony jaa only speaks in tai

...and in all honesty if tony spoke in english he would be able to pull of a better story line to go with his filmes and it would give the audience more time to watch the film and praise tony jaa but instead we spend most of our time reading the subtitles. All in all the box set is a definate must buy for any martial arts fan and anyone who just wants a thrill ride. ... Read review

Warrior King
Review of Warrior King (Collectors Edition) by vampiresthirst

Advantages: Incredible fight scenes
Disadvantages: Lacked a plot and unconvincing Australian accents

Warrior King is the sequel to the movie Ong Bak also known as Ong Bak 2 or Tom Yum Goong. The movie is based around an ancient order of warriors who spend their lives with an elephant, defending their weak points from attack, focused mainly around their knee joints. One day when Kham and his father are at a market both Khams elephant and his fathers are stolen and taken away. Kham's father is killed in the process. (I never quite got how Kham could ...
...and last up Making the warrior Cast and crew Interviews That’s all for Disc 2 I am afraid but its definitely worth looking over, you may tire of it after seeing it all once or twice but the movie will more then make up for that, if you're into Martial Arts that is! Cast: Tony Jaa-Kham Petchtai Wongkamlao-Mark Bongkoj Khongmalai-Pla Xing Jing-Madame Rose Nathan Jones ... T.K. (as Nathan B. Jones) Johnny Nguyen ... Johnny (as Johnny Tri Nguyen) ... Read review

High Kicking Action
Review of Warrior King DVD by mcicp19

Advantages: Tony Jaa doing what he does best
Disadvantages: Not for people who dont like foreign films

...of the FILM ONLY. Warrior King is the 2005 martial arts epic starring Tony Jaa, following his previous success in Ong Bak. Again directed by Prachya Pinkaew, and choreographed by Jaa and Panna Rittikrai this is almost a guarantee of explosive fight action. The story follows Kham (Jaa), a Thai villager who's family raise elephants in hope of having them picked for the royal guard. On a trip to a town celebration Kham's father's 2 elephants, Por ...
...to Sydney, Australia. Kham then head's to Sydney on a search for his elephants, where he meets up with his cousin Sgt. Mark (played by Thai comic and star of Ong Bak, Petchtai Wongkamlao) and much martial arts action follows. Jaa's performance in WK is stronger than his previous film, Ong Bak, bringing more emotion to the character and a greater presence to the screen. Don't get me wrong he's still no Bruce Lee on screen, but more than makes up ... Read review

When Action meets Art
Review of Hero DVD by Agula

Advantages: Interesting, fast going, challenging.
Disadvantages: Requires concetration.

The first time I saw it I didn't understand as it was in Mandarin and subtitles in Swedish. A nameless warrior wants to kill an emperor. Isn't that ordinary? But when that warrior talks to the emperor introducing different versions of the assassins' plotting the simple story becomes intruiging. I was fascinated by the way the fights were filmed, by the play of colours and textures and by the way the producers/directors managed to create a complex ... Read review

Kickboxer
Review of Kickboxer (Wide Screen) by jonboy76

Advantages: Inspirational- easy watching
Disadvantages: cheesy- simple plot- but effective

Well where do I start with this film? This is one of those inspirational films like Karate kid that makes you want to get off the sofa and take up kickboxing or other martial arts or learn the splits. This film has a real basic but predictable story line - without ruining it too much you can guess the ending within the first ten minutes. The plot wait for it, if you don't want to see stop reading now; Is revenge- Vamme Dam's (Kurt Sloanne) brother ...
...but doesn't have the necessary skills so learns from a master and of course there's the love interest too.. This is basically an easy watching adult version of Karate Kid. Would recommend this especially as it's a classic in the true sense and so easy watching and somewhat inspirational and touching. Very cheap price and certainly worth it ... Read review
