The most impressive martial artist in film.
Advantages: Amazing fight scenes and stunts, no wires so everything you see is for real. Disadvantages: The plots aren't amazing but still watchable, not for people who don't like foreign films.
...Panna Rittikrai, starring the great Tony Jaa as Ting, and Thai comedian Petchtai Wongkamlao and George (Humlae).
The thing with Tony Jaa is he doesn't have the screen presence on Bruce Lee, or the charisma of Jackie Chan, but what he can do is perform fight scenes better than anyone before him. It takes Jaa atleast twice as long as his predecessors to make a movie because of the one fact that makes him better then those before him - he doesn't use ... ...air for 30 seconds, just Tony Jaa doing incredible feats of agility and skill. If anyone doesn't believe he's not using wires I suggest you look up 'Tony Jaa high kick' on you tube and watch in amazement.
The main story of the film is that a small poor Thai village the head of a ancient buddah statue named Ong Bak has been stolen. The statue is worshipped by the village's people so Ting decides he will find Ong Bak at any cost. This leads him to ...

Classic films!
Advantages: Great films, good commentary, great price Disadvantages: Nothing...as long as you like Karate Kid films :P
...fell in love with it. The storyline is so-so, but the performances and characters were just so awesome - who could forget Mr. Miyagi! It's great for younger boys who can relate to Daniel, and the films also teach good morals.
The special features for the box set are limited to some audio commentary by the main characters, but fortunately it's some good stuff. If you're a fan, its great to be able to see how they are in real life, and none of them ...

Bulletproof Monk
Advantages: amusing in places Disadvantages: over the top in places
this film really suprised me! i was expecting to be rubbish, but to be fair its not really that bad. im very picky with my martial arts films as i find the flying through the air and bouncing off arrows very hard to watch, but this is watchable and sometimes even amusing! the ending is the only bit of this film that lets it down for me, but dont let that put you off, just giving my own opinion as i dont like 'fairy tale' endings, all the action throughout ...

Kick It To The Man!
Advantages: Great karate action and cute love story! Disadvantages: None to say.
I have loved the Karate Kid movie since it first came out when I was young. I was not a karate enthusiast or anything like that but I found the movie to be entertaining and enjoyable to watch over and over again. Ralph was a young teen idol when this movie came out and Elizabeth was a great counterpart for the show. She adds a little romance to the show! No one will ever forget Pat and his unique karate teaching. "Wax on, wax off" will forever be ... ...would capture anyones eye. The championship is obviously the most climactic moment but I found it to be suspenseful even though you knew that Ralph was going to try the "crane technique". Now that the DVD is out with special features, well...I won't be missing out on this. And if you enjoy this one, I suggest getting Karate Kid II as well - another inspiring story of courage and strength. And if you like Elizabeth Shue in the Karate Kid, I suggest ...

Enter the Dragon
Advantages: Fights!! Disadvantages: Bad acting, bad plot
...When you watch Enter the Dragon these days, it becomes pretty obvious, almost immediately, where films like Mortal Kombat and Conan the Destroyer got their inspiration from. This, the first kung film to be produced by a major Hollywood studio, and the last completed Bruce Lee film before his death "by misadventure", is credited with popularizing the martial art in America and establishing Lee as a cultural icon. And the reason that the film is considered ... ...action. The fight choreography in Enter the Dragon is so good that we needn't bother dwelling on what's bad here. So ignore the paper-thin, James Bond-type plot, and the piss-poor attempts at emotional expressiveness, and enjoy Enter the Dragon for what it is: Jaw-breaking kicks, high- pitched squeals, and incredibly-ripped male bodies. Indeed, Lee's phenomenal fitness has to be witnessed to be believed. [Visit me at: http://www.andycarrington.co.uk] ...
