Only Fewl Fight Men With Monkey!

Advantages: great actions scenes; funny
Disadvantages: unrealistic

On the rare occasion that I get home at the crack of dawn, I find myself living the cliche 'too tired to go to bed'. With your mind refusing work or sleep, and somehow keeping you in a limbo of half wakefulness, there are only a couple of things you can do in my humble abode. First one is flipping to pirated playboy and watching Julie Ashton in one of her weird home made porn flicks. The other and definitely more preferred thing to do is to have ...
...find out what happens at the end. Set 100-200 years ago in China, the Iron Monkey is the Honk Kong version of Robin Hood, and unlike all other Robins, this guy does not speak with an English accent. He speaks Chinese. He is a Chinese d00d dressed up like a Japanese Ninja who stalks a very poor town at night, stealing from the rich and feeding the hungry. The fight scenes are highly unrealistic and humorous, yet they are much too much fun to watch. ...

Disadvantages: None really

...(Donnie Yen) to apprehend the Iron Monkey. If he fails to do so, the governor will take Kei-Hung's son, Wong Fei-Hung (Tsang Sze Man, an actress playing a male) as prisoner. Iron Monkey is a wonderful film, full of exhilarating energy and impressive martial arts choreography. Each character in this film displays an amazing array of moves. Some highlights include: an awesome impromptu rooftop between the Iron Monkey and Kei-Hung; the night battle ...
...the climactic battle taking place above a fiery pit. Though Yen and Yu are the stars, actress Tsang Sze Man steals the show with a few astonishing moves of her own. If you loved Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but felt the film was a bit too philosophical, you will appreciate the lighthearted and fun tone of Iron Monkey ...

One of the best Kung Fu films around.

Advantages: Excellent fighting, great story. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Disadvantages: Special effects sometimes a bit over the top

Iron Monkey is a fantastic film which follows the story of the Iron Monkey a Robin Hood type character. Local doctor by day and stopper of wrong do-ers contributing his spoils to the poor by night. The town in which he lives is run by a corrupt governor who exploits the poor. Iron Monkey is unstoppable because of his supreme fighting skills but a man (Donny Yeung) and his arrive in the town and he proves to be Iron Monkey's equal. The man and his ...
...sets a stage for an Iron Monkey, Donny Yeung vs. the rebel Shaoliners show down. The fighting throughout the film is exceptionally good - Iron Monkey and Donny are fantastic together. The little kid is a also a fantastic fighter and he takes up quite a bit of screen time demonstrating his skills. The effects that accompany the fighting are sometimes over the top but it all adds tro the fun of the film. The story is also very enthralling and complex ...

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Confuses Audience

Advantages: See what life might have been like during the Qing Dynasty
Disadvantages: it left the viewer confused with unanswered questions

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon takes place during the Qing Dynasty and tells the story of woman and men warriers and a sword known as the Green Destiny. I was utterly confused when watching this movie and had a hard time grasping my head around the plot. This story line was very difficult to follow and was needed to be searched on the Internet to discover the plot. In my opinion, the movie didn't answer any questions that were set up in the beginning ...
...plot and the characters of the story were to confusing that it was distracting from the effects included. Personally, I beleive that Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was a pointless movie in which there was no plot but just a series of random events that made transitions through the movie. ...

Must See - Brilliant & Ingeneous martial arts!

Advantages: Culturally accurate (As I can tell), Comical, Excellent martial arts & Choreography.
Disadvantages: Not too deep, more for action than story.

I watched this movie as a recommendation from a friend. - And I'm glad I did. This is one of Jackie Chans' first films and helped hurtle him into stardom. Don't be put off by my special effects rating, a good martial arts film doesn't need them! The choreography is outstanding and carries the film from start to finish. The story is of a young unruly martial arts student (Jackie) who is forced by his father to leave town to train with a legendary ...
...of all, feared by new apprentices'. The young Jackie later discovers the legend is all but an old drunk. He dismisses him, until later through a funny and riveting series of events their paths meet again. As the film continues, Jackie's character, Wong Fei-Hung, is taught 'drunken Kung Fu'. In the mean time it is revealed an assassin has been sent after Wongs' father. I think it is plain to see that this is soley a martial arts movie; the story there ...
