A time travelling extravaganza
Advantages: some awesome action sequences, interesting concept Disadvantages: the seventies music
This film is based on a book by Japanese author Ryo Hanmura. The film when first released on video was called Time Slip, and it was as a kid that i first saw this. Totally enjoying it, I soon purchased it as an adult once it was available on DVD. This is Yet another quality film by Sonny Chiba, that just does not seem to get overlooked for Jackie Chan or Jet Li. The film is based on time travel, and whilst the beginning of the film is a little icky, ... ...Lieutenant Iba {Sonny Chiba} and his men are on a beach for a military training excercise. Not only are there troops but a tank, a gunboat, an helicopter and a jeep etc. Suddenly some strange phenomena occurs that the films never tires to explain, but suddenly these troops are transported back in time by 400 years to feudal Japan. The problem is that they have been transported into a bitter conflict for power. It is not long before they are attacked ...

Game of Death- terrible film great extras
Advantages: Bruces fight scenes, superb extras, good interview, excellent commentary Disadvantages: terrible plot, bad taste film, terrible editing
...seminar as well as a Game of Death Revisited featurette. This goes into some detail about what lee wanted from this film and its troubled history. There is also a brief history or Lee's own fighting art, Jeet Kune Do which I tend to recommend to my students as being a decent intro to the art. These are the main extras although there are also some smaller titbits as well including picture collections.
My view is that this is well worth getting if ... ...John Little, a version of Game of Death could be produced a million times better than this. This is truly an example of the worst possible taste and greed attached to a much loved movie legend. Get this film, laugh at the terrible plot line, the terrible attempts to get around the fact Bruce died before the story could be filmed and the tasteless use of his real funeral and watch it for the celebration of Bruce Lee at his best and most creative. ...

Tung Lung, Honours Bruce's death
Advantages: Excellent martial arts, from Tung Lung Disadvantages: none
Game of Death 2 Staring Tung
Lung, Huong Cheng-Li, Roy Horan,
Lee Hoi-San and previously
unseen footage of Bruce Lee.
The film in many ways is similar to Fist of Fury 2 they are
both about avenging the death
of a brother. In this case Bobby
Lo played by Tung Lung set out
to get revenge for the death of
Billy Lo (Bruce Lee) at the hands
of Jim Koo (Huong Cheng-Li). This film
has a lot less American influence
than Game of Death , which ... ...and fighting scenes than a well thought out story Probably the best Bruce Lee film ever made, even though Bruce Lee is not actually
in it. Made with previously unseen footage of his films, a stand in and completed with the classic poorly dubbed English lame dialogue and amazing Kung Fu. When Billy Lo (Bruce Lee) is killed at friend
Jim Koo's funeral, brother Bobby Lo (Tong Lung) sets out to avenge his death.
Bobby Lo sets off to Japan to meet ...

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Confuses Audience
Advantages: See what life might have been like during the Qing Dynasty Disadvantages: it left the viewer confused with unanswered questions
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon takes place during the Qing Dynasty and tells the story of woman and men warriers and a sword known as the Green Destiny. I was utterly confused when watching this movie and had a hard time grasping my head around the plot. This story line was very difficult to follow and was needed to be searched on the Internet to discover the plot. In my opinion, the movie didn't answer any questions that were set up in the beginning ... ...plot and the characters of the story were to confusing that it was distracting from the effects included. Personally, I beleive that Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was a pointless movie in which there was no plot but just a series of random events that made transitions through the movie. ...

Must See - Brilliant & Ingeneous martial arts!
Advantages: Culturally accurate (As I can tell), Comical, Excellent martial arts & Choreography. Disadvantages: Not too deep, more for action than story.
I watched this movie as a recommendation from a friend. - And I'm glad I did. This is one of Jackie Chans' first films and helped hurtle him into stardom. Don't be put off by my special effects rating, a good martial arts film doesn't need them! The choreography is outstanding and carries the film from start to finish. The story is of a young unruly martial arts student (Jackie) who is forced by his father to leave town to train with a legendary ... ...of all, feared by new apprentices'. The young Jackie later discovers the legend is all but an old drunk. He dismisses him, until later through a funny and riveting series of events their paths meet again. As the film continues, Jackie's character, Wong Fei-Hung, is taught 'drunken Kung Fu'. In the mean time it is revealed an assassin has been sent after Wongs' father. I think it is plain to see that this is soley a martial arts movie; the story there ...
