Advantages: Culturally accurate (As I can tell), Comical, Excellent martial arts & Choreography. Disadvantages: Not too deep, more for action than story.
I watched this movie as a recommendation from a friend. - And I'm glad I did. This is one of Jackie Chans' first films and helped hurtle him into stardom. Don't be put off by my special effects rating, a good martial arts film doesn't need them! The choreography is outstanding and carries the film from start to finish. The story is of a young unruly martial arts student (Jackie) who is forced by his father to leave town to train with a legendary ... ...of all, feared by new apprentices'. The young Jackie later discovers the legend is all but an old drunk. He dismisses him, until later through a funny and riveting series of events their paths meet again. As the film continues, Jackie's character, Wong Fei-Hung, is taught 'drunken Kung Fu'. In the mean time it is revealed an assassin has been sent after Wongs' father. His first Police Story movies were heartfelt with justice and morals, I never thought he had any more of that acting in him, but he proved me wrong with this movie, it was completely emotional from the point of him losing his comrades in the force to him trying his best to save his girlfriend, The story is about a gang of rich kids who have brought heavy arms off the interent, and have begun a game of robbing banks, only not to get away, but instead ... ...them for points, their actions are then changed into a online computer game, which leads to hints of their next hit, Jackie the Super cop was over confident and loses all his comrades to their traps, and ends up an alcoholic, till a young officer appears and gets him back on his feet, to put and end to them. ...

Frank convinces Chan put a stop to the gang once and for all. Now with the knowledge that they have designed a video game based on the previous years events, they suspect that the gang is trying to re-act their crimes. They go on a hunt for the gang members, finding out that their leader Joe (Daniel Wu) is actually the son of the police chief, who holds a grudge against the police for his fathers mistreatment ... ...decent pace thoughout and plenty of action scenes of Jackie Chan standard high quality. Very enjoyable. Jackie proves to be a decent serious actor in his portrayal of guilt and depression for the death of his team. Nicolas Tse performed very well as, and ven Charlene Choi put forward a decent performance as officer Sa Sa. Overall this movie is a good quality piece, and worth watching.
