"Brick Not Hit Back"
Review of Bloodsport DVD by fryera2

Advantages: Excellent martial arts action, decent music
Disadvantages: Appalling acting

...my personal favourite). What Bloodsport does do well is the fighting sequences, which are amongst the best I have seen in any martial arts film. The action is incredibly realistic to the extent that I would not be shocked if some of the action was actually filmed using semi-contact instead of the usual missing by a mile and adding sound effects later that you often get in martial arts films. Luckily enough the fighting sequences form a large percentage ...
...interest and detective scenes then the film is actually very good. Some of the music in the film is actually pretty good as well and matches the general feel throughout the film (think 80s camp and you are pretty much there). If you are in any way interested in martial arts then I would recommend this film highly. If you are not interested in martial arts then I probably would not recommend it quite as highly, but personally I think it is great! ... Read review

Brainless Fun
Review of City Hunter (Subtitled and Dubbed) (Wide Screen) by Photosynthesis

Advantages: Great Fight scenes, some comedy moments
Disadvantages: Weak Plot, Dissapointing

Based on a popular manga, I was expecting a lot more from this movie. However for those expecting something similar to the manga, will be disappointed as this movie does not really follow it as such. Ryo (Jackie Chan) is paid to locate the daughter of his employer. He finds her on a ship, which is hijacked by terrorists, and Jackie must save the girl and the day. Its not exactly a unique storyline or a strong plot. But provides plenty of oppertunity ...
...someone who loves lots of fight scenes, slapstick comedy and some brainless fun for an hour or two, then I would recommend this film. But do not expect a strong story line or any intellectual enhancement from ths movie. Its full of cliches and cheesy moments, but also some funny and enjoyable moments. There are some great fight scenes and comedy moments, but its one of those movies easily forgotten. Its a film that a Jackie Chan fan would perhaps ... Read review

Sharp pointy thing for hire
Review of Shogun Assassin (Uncut Version) (Wide Screen) by tayloa22

Advantages: father son relationship, action, plot
Disadvantages: dated, some won't like the graphic violence

Shogun Assassin- A Review By Addy Steeped in History Shogun Assassin is a chambara film which means sword fight, and that's what this film offers up in abundance. The film was originally released in 1980 but due to the sheer graphic nature of the film it was banned for many years in this country, {1983-2001} and now has achieved a cult status and huge fan base. This jidaigeki {Period film} is set in Japan during the Edo period and is a film ...
...Beauty and the Beast Shogun Assassin really does combine elements of both beauty and beast. Allow me to elaborate. The beast ☺You may remember that at the beginning of the review I mentioned that this film was formerly banned. This is due to the graphic nature of the battle scenes. Not only is there regular geysers of blood shooting out from gaping wounds but there are images such as swords being buried into heads and heads being split ... Read review

Not the most compatible combination
Review of House Of Flying Daggers/Bulletproof Monk DVD by huntressofthenight

Advantages: House of Flying Daggers
Disadvantages: Bulletproof Monk

...in my local DVD shop, House of Flying Daggers alone cost more than this combination. This makes no sense to me, so, ievitably, I bought this one. However, aside from being fo the same genre- Martial arts - these DVDs have nothing at all in common and so I was a little disappointed that they couldn't come up with a better combination. I have rated this product good because of the incredible film that is House of Flying Daggers. eautiful scenery, artistry, ...
...the quality or memorability of House of Flying Daggers. The stunts are less well choreographed, and the general standard of the film is brought much lower. It is more of comedy-action film and the American acting drags down the standard of this set somewhat. Still, on its own Bulletproof Monk isn't a below average film and it is definitely watchable. The value for money of this set is what sets the standard more than anything... bargain! ... Read review

Enter The Dragon (review)
Review of Enter The Dragon (Special Edition) by T-BuLL16

Advantages: great storyline and actors, the fighting scenes are EXELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Disadvantages: It was a bit slow to start.

...in my all time favourite Enter The Dragon. I love this film and the reason being is because the storyline is great and the fighting scenes are excellent, well . . . I suppose you would expect that from the man proven to be the worlds fittest man, highly trained in martial arts. If you are into martial arts then this is definitely the film for you I personally recommend the special edition specifically because it has hidden scenes in it that you ...
