Bruce Lee-thal!
Review of The Way Of The Dragon (Special Collector's Edition) (Wide Screen) by oxonian

Advantages: Supreme martial arts choreography, humourous and most memorable final fight scene.
Disadvantages: If I HAD to nitpick, I suppose the comedy is quite basic

The Martial Arts genre has, ever since I started watching movies, been at the very top in my mind and has never lost its place to any other type of movie. My heart was stolen the first minute I watched Enter the Dragon, starring Bruce Lee, when I was 4 years old. It's an 18 certificate movie, but my parents were far from strict about prohibiting me from watching films of a violent nature. As I watched Bruce kick and punch his enemies all over the ...
...blockbusters for me, and over the last 20 years I have watched them all countless times and never lost an iota of enthusiasm for any. However, there is one film that surpasses the rest in storyline and quality of fight sequences and that is Way of The Dragon. Background ++++++++++ This film came at a major juncture in Bruce Lee's life. He had just featured as the leading man in two box office smash hits in China, The Big Boss and Fist of Fury. ... When Action meets Art
Review of Hero DVD by Agula

Advantages: Interesting, fast going, challenging.
Disadvantages: Requires concetration.

The first time I saw it I didn't understand as it was in Mandarin and subtitles in Swedish. A nameless warrior wants to kill an emperor. Isn't that ordinary? But when that warrior talks to the emperor introducing different versions of the assassins' plotting the simple story becomes intruiging. I was fascinated by the way the fights were filmed, by the play of colours and textures and by the way the producers/directors managed to create a complex ... Read review

Kickboxer
Review of Kickboxer (Wide Screen) by jonboy76

Advantages: Inspirational- easy watching
Disadvantages: cheesy- simple plot- but effective

Well where do I start with this film? This is one of those inspirational films like Karate kid that makes you want to get off the sofa and take up kickboxing or other martial arts or learn the splits. This film has a real basic but predictable story line - without ruining it too much you can guess the ending within the first ten minutes. The plot wait for it, if you don't want to see stop reading now; Is revenge- Vamme Dam's (Kurt Sloanne) brother ...
...but doesn't have the necessary skills so learns from a master and of course there's the love interest too.. This is basically an easy watching adult version of Karate Kid. Would recommend this especially as it's a classic in the true sense and so easy watching and somewhat inspirational and touching. Very cheap price and certainly worth it ... Read review

Jet Li's old news
Review of Ong Bak (Subtitled And Dubbed) (Platinum Edition) by galatico1

Advantages: The martial arts skills
Disadvantages: Dubbed

...so hero goes to rescue it but finds trouble and so on. A common story through most films, but none the less Ong Bak is a greatly respected film, which should be at least watched just to admire the stunts and martials arts skills of Tony Jaa if not purchased. ... Read review

High Kicking Action
Review of Warrior King DVD by mcicp19

Advantages: Tony Jaa doing what he does best
Disadvantages: Not for people who dont like foreign films

...of the FILM ONLY. Warrior King is the 2005 martial arts epic starring Tony Jaa, following his previous success in Ong Bak. Again directed by Prachya Pinkaew, and choreographed by Jaa and Panna Rittikrai this is almost a guarantee of explosive fight action. The story follows Kham (Jaa), a Thai villager who's family raise elephants in hope of having them picked for the royal guard. On a trip to a town celebration Kham's father's 2 elephants, Por ...
...to Sydney, Australia. Kham then head's to Sydney on a search for his elephants, where he meets up with his cousin Sgt. Mark (played by Thai comic and star of Ong Bak, Petchtai Wongkamlao) and much martial arts action follows. Jaa's performance in WK is stronger than his previous film, Ong Bak, bringing more emotion to the character and a greater presence to the screen. Don't get me wrong he's still no Bruce Lee on screen, but more than makes up ... Read review
