Advantages: Actually very good
Disadvantages: overlooked for more well known martial arts actors

Sonny Chiba movies seem to often get overlooked for the more glitzy martial arts actors such as Jet Lee and Jackie Chan and Chow Yun Fat. Many of Sonny Chiba's movies are often mature, and totally action packed, with very good storylines. Many of Sonny Chibas films are traditional period types, such as samurai's or ninjas. Classic films!

Advantages: Great films, good commentary, great price
Disadvantages: Nothing...as long as you like Karate Kid films :P

Not the most compatible combination

Advantages: House of Flying Daggers
Disadvantages: Bulletproof Monk

...in my local DVD shop, House of Flying Daggers alone cost more than this combination. This makes no sense to me, so, ievitably, I bought this one. However, aside from being fo the same genre- Martial arts - these DVDs have nothing at all in common and so I was a little disappointed that they couldn't come up with a better combination. ...the quality or memorability of House of Flying Daggers. The stunts are less well choreographed, and the general standard of the film is brought much lower. It is more of comedy-action film and the American acting drags down the standard of this set somewhat. Still, on its own Bulletproof Monk isn't a below average film and it is definitely watchable. The value for money of this set is what sets the standard more than anything... bargain! ...
