The Man the Myth
Review of Bruce Lee (30th Anniversary Box Set) by nebcsa17th

Advantages: Great un-cut action
Disadvantages: Ruined my view of "Game of death"

...other kids saying how brilliant Bruce Lee is and all the 80's spending my hard earned cash on exspensive strongly cut versions of his films on video. The four i got at that time were ofcourse "Big Boss, Fist of fury, Way of the dragon and Game of death" Enter the Dragon came later for me when it was shown uncut on TV very late one night after a live Liverpool european supercup game. That was the first time i saw it un cut as other times after that ...
...was still chuffed with my Bruce Lee collection and it got me very interested in the man himself, and the more i learned the more he intrigue me. His philosophies and methods were inspiring. Then came the film "Dragon" with Jason Scott Lee playing Bruce. The film gave an insight to the way Bruce came up to stardom and wanted so much to share his wisdom and skills with the western world. I still had a yearning however to see the full versions of his ... Read review

Jackie Chan is the Dragon Lord!
Review of Dragon Lord (Wide Screen) by mandydon

Advantages: Slapstick humour mixed with innovative action!
Disadvantages: Slightly Clichéd storyline! May ruin the movie for many!!!!!

...again. Plot summary: Dragon Ho (Jackie Chan) and his best friend Cowboy (Mars) travel to save some special ancient Chinese artifacts ( an old favourite Hong Kong storyline during Jackie Chan's era as a classic martial arts hero.) However before Chan pursued the main storyline the characters in this movie implement seemingly pointless stunts which would amuse many and anger others. The opening scene shows Jackie Chan's innovative mind as he mixes ...
...the characters all chase this shuttlecock and then throw it onto a giant pyramid.) Although many scenes seem pointless they surely entertain. The fight scenes are trademark martial arts Chan. A must see Jackie Chan movie.....definitely pursued the 'Chan' way....he was director, producer and main character. Brilliant! ... Read review

Ninja films made as they should be
Review of Enter The Ninja DVD by tayloa22

Advantages: A mature serious approach to the genre
Disadvantages: compared to some martial arts films now, looksa little dated

...serious element of realism. Whilst Enter the Ninja concentrates largely on Franco Nero's character, Sho Kosugi has a great part in the film as a disillusioned bad guy. The film is a more serious look into the world of ninjas and actually attempts to put a decent plot into the movie Who's in it? ☺☺☺☺☺☺ Franco Nero~ Cole Susan George~ Mary Ann Flanders Sho Kosugi~ Hasegawa Alex Courtney~ Frank Landers Christopher ...
...Susan George: Eastenders, Tales of the Unexpected, Venom, The Jigsaw Man Franco Nero: Force 10 from Navarone, Die Hard 2, Django, Camelot Sho Kosugi: Iron Eagle, Pray for Death, Revenge of the Ninja, Rage of Honour Christopher George: El Dorado, Chisum Mission Impossible, Wonder Woman, Love Boat So what the heck is it all about? ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺a 86;☺☺☺☺ The film starts ... Ong Bak! woo!
Review of Ong Bak (Subtitled And Dubbed) (Platinum Edition) by salmonf1

Advantages: Fast paced action
Disadvantages: subtitled or dubbed

Ong bak, starring martial art, and gymastics genius Tony Jaa, is a must see for all martial art lovers. Although subtitled, (i dislike watching it dubbed) its a very good film, and the story is easy to follow. Tony jaa's character is a villager who has spent his life training in the arts of Muay thai, A thai martial art/ sport. His village believe that the condition of their statue Ong Bak bears resemblence to the wellbeing of the village. Basically ...
...become annoyed at the village somehow, steals the head of the statue, and Tony jaa is sent to reclaim it swiftly kicking anyone who gets in the way in the face. (which he does quite a lot. The main aspect of the film is the fact that there are no stunt actors, and no strings or CGI everything you see Tony or others do. Its quite amazing to see what a human is capable of doing. Tony's stunts are vary complex, he can do multiple jumps off a wall for ... Read review

Brainless Fun
Review of City Hunter (Subtitled and Dubbed) (Wide Screen) by Photosynthesis

Advantages: Great Fight scenes, some comedy moments
Disadvantages: Weak Plot, Dissapointing

Based on a popular manga, I was expecting a lot more from this movie. However for those expecting something similar to the manga, will be disappointed as this movie does not really follow it as such. Ryo (Jackie Chan) is paid to locate the daughter of his employer. He finds her on a ship, which is hijacked by terrorists, and Jackie must save the girl and the day. Its not exactly a unique storyline or a strong plot. But provides plenty of oppertunity ...
...someone who loves lots of fight scenes, slapstick comedy and some brainless fun for an hour or two, then I would recommend this film. But do not expect a strong story line or any intellectual enhancement from ths movie. Its full of cliches and cheesy moments, but also some funny and enjoyable moments. There are some great fight scenes and comedy moments, but its one of those movies easily forgotten. Its a film that a Jackie Chan fan would perhaps ... Read review
