The film cover puts it best, Rocky meets Bruce Lee
Review of Fighter In The Wind (Subtitled) (Wide Screen) by
tayloa22
Advantages: rock hard movie, fight scenes are mental. and it's a true story
Disadvantages: there are none
This is how a martial arts movies should be. There is none of that fancy wire work and fantasy elements within this movie. This is a very gripping film, that relies on real hardcore fighting to wow the viewers. rather than glitzy special effects. This film is based on a true story about Choi Bae-Dal, a Korean that wants to fight for Japan during WW2. Being unsuccesful in his attempts to become a pilot, he ends up on the streets instead. Initially ... ...a Korean. Then eventually once the Americans defeat Japan he also suffers at the hands of American GI's. He suffers intolerable beatings stabbings and horrendous misery, but stays true to his yearning to become a competent martial artist. Eventually he becomes pretty good and starts to mete out some punishment to the GI's that are raping Japanese women etc. Eventually he befriends a Japanese Geisha who he saves, and he finally gets a modicum of happiness ...

The geatest Eastern film EVER!!...
Review of Ong Bak (Vanilla) by
mimicmwb
Advantages: over 5 hours of amazing bonus material
Disadvantages: i cant think of any
..."kon dib Ihek nam pee", Ong Bak is definitely the superior. I have taken into consideration that "Kon dib Ihek nam pee" was a lower budget movie, but the story to it, the in-camera editing skills; they just weren't as good. Ong-Bak is much better.
The director, Prachya Pinkaew, has brought such films as the announced "sword" (also featuring Tony Jaa), "Cherm", and "7 pra-jan-barn". I have yet to see "sword", but I have seen the other two and I wasn't ... ...As I said before, it was so worth the £10.99 it was purchased for. I definetely recommend this movie to anyone with at least half a brain. LOL :D
Thankyou very much for reading my review, I hoped you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. Feel free to leave any comments on how I can improve, I'm all ears. ...

Good Japanese Karate Film
Review of The Return Of The Streetfighter DVD by
fraz1511
Advantages: Plenty Of Brutal Action, Good Photography and Great Music
Disadvantages: Cut Version Has Nonsensical Plot & Is Too Short!
'Return Of The Street Fighter' - Japan- 1974
Fun sequel to Sonny Chiba's groundbreaking 'Streetfighter' film. Takuma Tsurgi returns (as you would expect) to punch kick and stamp his way through his enemies in this 70s brutalist karate film.
Chiba for the uninitiated was an Olympic standard karate master who starred in loads of films in Japan over the seventies and eighties. Chiba is awesome as usual, in the 'Streetfighter' films he plays Takuma ... ...Although not a patch on the original, it's full on and gory (although toned down slightly from the first film), it features tonnes of action, funky music, stylish cinematography and some great 70s kitsch. It has a lighter tone than the original with a plot about the mafia blackmailing karate schools to justify the relentless and brutal fight scenes. However most people won't be watching this for it's great plot, instead they'll be watching to witness ...

Advantages: martial arts scenes with Brandon, action, bit of romance, Powers Boothe

Big Boss - Bruce's Lee's spotlight
Review of The Big Boss (Platinum Edition) by
fightgear
Advantages: Bruce Lee, gory but funny fight scenes, some interesting extras, remastered picture and sound
Disadvantages: You can tell that Lee didn't direct this.
...role after his success in the American market with support roles in Green Hornet, Ironside and Long Street. Although this is my least favourite Lee film, it is still a worthwhile investment.
In this film, Lee plays the character Cheng, a country bumpkin type who leaves China to earn a living in Thailand. He is looked after by his uncle and accepted in to their family. A central aspect of this film is that Lee is forbidden from fighting as a result ... ...until about 30 minutes into the film. Of course being an early 1970's film, this one is full of the usual cliches; over acting, shaky sets, bad soundtracks and dodgy editing cuts BUT it does allow Lee to demonstrate that he did intend to be an actor rather than just a kick and punch jockey.
Lee's family are workers at an ice factory which is actually a front for a drug smuggling business. Workers are treated badly by the gangsters running the factory ...
