I love puppies! So when I saw an advert for a film with a cute puppy in it , I just had to get my hands on a copy of the DVD. That DVD is Marley and Me.
Marley and Me is an American film which comes under the following genres ; Comedy , Drama , Romance and Family. The film was released in the United Kingdom on 11th March 2009. Marley and Me stars Jennifer Anniston and Owen Wilson. Running time of the movie is one hundred and twenty minutes (two hours exactly!). This is a PG movie which means it can be watched by children of all ages , providing there is an adult watching it with them.
John (Owen) and Jenny are newly weds and have just moved into a gorgeous cottage in Florida to start their new life together. Jenny is ready to start a family but John isn't too sure whether they're ready , so while discussing the matter with a friend , the friend suggest getting a dog just to see whether they'd make good parents or not. The couple go ahead with the idea and buy a beautiful yellow labrador who they name Marley after the singer Bob Marley. But what will happen when Marley turns out to
be the 'World's Worst Dog'? Watch Marley and Me to find out.
I hadn't read the book Marley and Me (and to be honest , I didn't know such a book existed until after the film came out!) , so I honestly didn't know what was going to happen! I had expected it to be a 'happy film' , boy was I wrong! Make sure you have some kleenex by your side as you'll need it! This film is so sad! There are some happy moments as well has some hiliarious scenes , so it's not all doom and gloom!
My favourite character had to be Marley! He's just so adorable! To watch , he is such a comical little dog , with all his naughtiness , although I'm sure he would be a right nightmare to have as a pet , judging on all the bad things he did in the film! I think this film sends out a great message : that you shouldn't choose a dog just because it looks cute , you should take into consideration it's kind of behaviour etc , before deciding. It also shows children who perhaps want a dog how much hard work goes into caring for it and that it's not just all 'playing' and 'cuddles' which I think is an important message to send out!
I enjoyed how realistic this film is ; the characters are true and there's nothing 'that-would-never-happen' about it! It's all so normal! I liked the characters , as they were just average people. I think Jennifer Anniston fitted the role of Jenny really well. In fact , I have seen many of Jennifer Anniston's films including Along Came Polly and The Break Up and I think it's safe to say that this one is the best ; in my opinion anyway!
As I have six dogs myself , I could relate to the character of Marley! For example , a lot of the things Marley did reminded me of how my dogs behave , such as sensing when your feeling down or happy and so it made the film a bit more personal for me as sometimes I felt like I knew the dog (if that makes sense!) as though he was my pet!
Although this movie is a PG , I wouldn't really reccommend it to children under the age of ten as it will upset them , especially children who are too young to understand the whole 'when a pet dies' thing. I certainly found it upsetting , so it might not be a good idea to let young kids see it! It certainly made me want to go and give my dog a cuddle! This movie shows just how faithful dogs are ; in this movie the family consider the dog to be a nusiance however , regardless of this , poor old Marley still gives a lot of love to the family , which is quite sad when you think about it! It also makes you appreciate your dog as they're not here forever , and when they're gone that's when you realise you should have appreciated them more. This is definately a film for dog loves. I'm not saying that non dog owners won't enjoy it , but I think to understand that special bond between Marley and the family , your at an advantage if you own a dog yourself.
I would recommend this movie to all dog lovers!
* Quotes * John Grogan: A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his.

Arnie Klein: Tell your dog not to worry, sooner or later we all lose our balls.
* Marley And Me Facts * Jennifer Anniston hadn't read the novel when she first read the script and turned the role down because she didn't think a dog movie was interesting.
In the movie , Owen Wilson's real life parents played his on screen parents!

Excellent review, though I haven't seen the film. But I like watching Jennifer Anniston, she has a very expressive face :)

Nice review - and the first of your facts just goes to show Jennifer Anniston is truly dreadful at picking film roles! Thank goodness she was convinced to take another look at this one.
