Advantages: Marilyn Monroe as 'the girl', superb direction by Billy Wilder Disadvantages: You cannot improve on such a perfectly made film!
...This film, adapted for film from a show on Broadway by Director Billy Wilder, is a true classic and the film that made MarilynMonroe a world-wide star.
The film really only has two Characters, Tom Ewell as a married man who's wife and son have gone away for the summer holidays, and MarilynMonroe, as the girl who moves into the flat above him.
Tom Ewell's character instantly goes ga-ga the second he lays eyes on Marilyn, and what follows is a series of hysterical fantasies as he imagines seducing her in his appartment.
The seven year itch contains one of the most memorable scenes in the history of film. It occurs when MarilynMonroe and Tom Ewell take a stroll in the New York Summer heat.
When director Billy Wilder thought up the concept of having MarilynMonroe stand above an air vent in a Manhatten street one wonders if he...

Advantages: Fun, entertaining, good musical numbers, Marilyn Monroe Disadvantages: Milton Berle
...INTRODUCTION
This weekend sees the 45th anniversary since the sudden death of MarilynMonroe. While it is a time when fans feel particularly sad about her early passing, it is also a good opportunity to remember her life and to celebrate all she achieved.
So, yesterday, I watched two of her films on DVD – Lades of the Chorus (1949) for the first time ever and Let’s Make Love (1960) for the second time. Both are great upbeat movies which reminded me of some of the pleasure Marilyn brought to the entertainment world.

..."Gentlemen..." is my favourite Monroe film. She plays the gold-digging dumb blonde (again!) however this romantic musical comedy still holds up today. Marilyn plays Lorelei Lee, a showgirl who can spot a diamond at 50 yards, who's romantic entanglement with the wealthy Gus does not go down well with his father. Jane Russell co-stars as Lorelei's partner. This truly is Hollywood at it's best. The musical numbers are breath-taking, in particular the opening sequence and the very famous "Diamonds Are A Grils Best Friend". The plotline is very very funny and typically full of misadventures. The sets are sumptuous and the whole piece is a feast for the eyes and the ears. If you haven't already had the pleasure of this film, you're missing out...watch it today!...
