Mallrats is one of the best movies I have ever seen, it is so funny, Jay and Silent Bob are the best double act going at the moment. I can’t believe this got slated by the critics, which if you buy Chasing Amy on DVD and watch the deleted scenes there is one scene when Kevin Smith lifts one of the reviews he read about Mallrats and puts it into the script, which when you watch it is very funny.
But on with the film, Mallrats starts of with Brodie (Jason Lee) and T.S Quint (Jeremy London), as two friends which have just been dumped by there respective Girlfriend’s René (Shannen Doherty) and Brandi (Claire Forlani), Brodie got dumped for not having direction in his life and T.S got dumped for not wanting Brandi to go on her fathers game show, which stops his plans of taking Brandi to Florida with him. Not knowing what to do they decide the best thing to do is go to the Mall.
While at the Mall, they come across Jay and Silent Bob, two guy’s with less to do than Brodie and T.S, who agree to help and win back there girlfriends. Jay and Silent Bob try to hatch plans to sabotage Brandi’s fathers game show for them while avoiding the most feared security guard in the business, La Fours. Ben Affleck plays Shannen Hamilton, a guy who works at ‘Fashionable Male’ and is trying to take advantage of Brodie’s ex René.
Mallrats includes other characters who have starred in other Kevin Smith movies like, Steve-Dave, Walt and Joey Lauren Adams, there is also a cameo from Stan Lee (Marvel Comics). Other highlights include Trish aka Trish The Dish, who is composing a book about the sex drive of men age’s 14-30, Willam a helpless guy trying to see the sailboat in a magic eye, and a topless mind reader called Miss Ivannah.
The Stand out part in the Movie for me is definitely the ‘Stink Palm’ , a plan hatched by Brodie to use on Brandi’s father which eventually leads to him spewing his guts out. The game show scene gives us some of Jason Lee’s best dialogue, the way he verbally rips apart suitor number three is hilarious. The Movie has an excellent soundtrack, The Goops cover of ‘Build me up buttercup’, ‘Suzanne’ by Weezer and ‘Bubbles’ by Bush are brilliant songs.
While this may not be as good as Dogma, I think it is better than Kevin Smith’s other flicks Chasing Amy and Clerks, and is one of the best movies I have ever seen.

(+) Because of the new series the box set isn't complete, which means it will be cheaper! (-) It isnt the complete box set so you'll have to buy the new dvds seperatly or wait for the new set!
