Disadvantages: It is designed for kids so isn't as funny as you remember

Marian Why Didn't You Carry On

The Tony Robinson written 'Maid Marian' is one of the best kids TV shows of all time, and the decision to show all of the repeats this Summer on Friday afternoons (BBC1) can only be applauded. The series is a comedy based upon the antics of a set of (dramatised) historical characters. Robin of Sherwood is not the hero history made him out to be, but instead, a self-conscious wimp. It is in fact Marian (Kate Lonegran) who masterminds the Merry Men's strategy to defeat evil tyrant King John and the Sheriff of Nottingham (Robinson). As well as Marian and Robin, the band of Merry Men includes the Rastafarian rapper Barrington (Danny John-Jules), dwarf Little Ron and Rabies, the slow witted lummox.
