Sitting there this morning giggling my head, laughing with hysterics as a ten tonne hippo gets jiggy with Mojo Mojo. (So good they named him twice!) OMG I'm dying of Witchdoctor's Disease and how on earth do you pick out Marty from a herd of 100 Zebra's? Penguin’s flying a battered old WW2 fighter plane and a crazy old kung fu fighting granny whooping a, supposedly, strong and fierce lion's butt...
What a funny film. I'm 34 years young, and loved it. My daughter,11, loved it and I daresay, my 80 year old nanny would love it too...
As the follow on from Madagascar 1, Alex the Lion (voiceover, Ben Stiller) and his bunch of thrill seekers, feel that it is time to return home to New York. Up high in the canopy, the Penguins have pieced together the plane and have it teetering at the edge ready to catapult it into the air....The crowd go wild....off it goes....over the edge, falling falling falling ......and up into the sky...hurrah! Off they go...homeward bound...
Now rather than go on and on, as I could retell the whole story, and ruin it for you, the plane crashes, they land in the dessert, Alex finds his parents (arhhh lovely moment....) the penguin's hirer the chimps and their unit, to mend the plane and fly them back home.
In between, Julien the Lemur (voiceover Sacha Baron Cohen) thinks he is the new king, Melman the giraffe (voiceover David Schwimmer) who is somewhat of a hypochondriac becomes the new doctor, then worries that he has witchdoctor's disease and offers himself to the Gods to make it rain, Gloria the Hippo (voiceover Jada Pinkett Smith) falls for Mojo Mojo, the chubbiest, heaviest, smoothest hippo you could imagine, Marty the Zebra (voiceover Chris Rock) feels that his uniqueness is under threat when Alex cannot pick him out of his 100 strong herd, all the while villainous Zuba (voiceover Alec Baldwin) schemes away to oust Alex and his parents from the pride....
This movie is so funny in place that my jaw ached and several heart warming moments that made me tingle.
I will be watching Madagascar 2 over and over again. It's Brilliant! That is, if I can prize it away from my daughter!!
This is even better than the first movie and I would recommend it to the young and old, just for fun.
After watching it, the post came through my door....in there was a letter from the IR with my tax bill, I laughed and thought, even the IR can't bring me down from my high after this morning of laughter will by daughter!
Madagascar Escape 2 Africa, by Dreamworks is rated PG, runs fro approx 86 very funny minutes and contains mild comic violence and threat.
The DVD has special features, which although I haven't seen, my daughter says are very funny.
Price depending on store: £6.99 play.com £6.99 HMV £7.96 Tesco
The soundtrack is brilliant too with I like to Move it Move it, Rescue Me, More Than a Feeling and lots more great tunes...
If you want a little light hearted giggle, watch this movie, even if you haven't seen the first, it's FAB!!
