The First Mad Max (1979) is the best, the sequels are Mad Max 2 (the road warrior) and Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome which did not in my opinon live up to the intoxicating First Mad Max
THE FILM Future Australia has last most of it's law and order,highways have been overturned by violent motorcycle gang's and Police moral is at an all time low. Mel Gibson plays.Mad Max Rocktansky a tough Police cop who want's out,to be free from the hellraising savages on the roads. Max does indeed quit but when his wife and baby are killed its time for all out revenge. To face the unroadworthy highways and bring in some sort of justice for himself.
MY VIEWS First may I say what a deep note gas gazzling modified police car Max drive's in the film which is totally awesome and the setting some where in the Australian outback fire's up the mood for a fast out of control road thriller. The motorcycle gang led by the nasty Toecutter (hugh keays byrne) look's the part as extremely violent crazy psychopath's that will stop at nothing to carry out their dirty deeds.
The director George Miller (babe,dead calm,lorenzo's oil) does a great job in keeping you inches from the action and I am pleased to say he is working on Mad Max 4 out later this year.
I think this film will not be everyones cup of tea but it's certainly original (not a glossy hollywood film) and marked the start of Mel Gibsons great acting career who has now become a sucessful film director(passion of the christ).
QUICK SUMMARY A superb enthralling,hi octane,violent film which will engross you all the way to the end. I fully recommend you add this to your DVD collection (always look on kelkoo to capare the prices or ebay).
