Mad Max.
==========

The Story
~~~~~~~~~~
A film set the in the future when there is starting to become a fuel shortage. We join the film watching two pursuit officers chasing Night Rider, a cop killer and his woman as they drive uncontrollable across state in a mad crazed mood. The chase continued for a few miles and now we see another pursuit car join the chase. Suddenly the first pursuit car spins out of control and is sent flying off the road smashing up the entire front.
Goose the Motorbike cop is busy in the cafe chatting waiting for a coffee whilst the pursuit is requesting help. He does not hear the call but sudden the Night Rider drives flying past his window followed by a pursuit car. Goose throws his coffee, runs to his bike, and joins the chase.
Bubba has managed to get he car going although Charlie is getting worried, as Bubbas is acting crazy. They soon catch up in the chase again and just in time to as the other pursuit car loses control. Meanwhile, up the road two parents are busy arguing and have not noticed that their son has wondered off into the road. The pursuit is running more out of control as they scream down the road towards the toddler, Night Rider sees the child and seems to heading straight for him, but at the last minute he swerves. The pursuit cars are so close to him they have to swerve uncontrollably to miss the child and sudden we see goose smashed off his bike and bubba and Charlie's car smashed to shreds.
The Night Rider thinks this is great and the chase is over and then suddenly ahead of him on the road in the distance he sees another car >this car is called the interceptor and at the side of the car we see stood Max, (Mel Gibson). As the Night Rider sees Max he tells his girlfriend its Bronze, Bronze is the nickname he has given Max.
Max starts the chase, as he knows that The Night Riders car is no match to his. Night Rider begins crying as it was all started just because he wanted to impress Toe cutter. He knows Max want him bad and is so concerned at looking back to see if he can shake off Max that he drives into a head on collision with a stack of fuel barrels and that is the end of The Night Rider as his car explodes into hundreds of pieces.
The scene then switches to Max at home with his wife and his son. Even though he is the interceptor this is a chance to see, the other side of the character as a loving husband and father.
The next day in work, Goose hobbling around with a broken leg takes Max to show him the latest car they are speeding up for the Interceptor car. Max thinks the car is a beauty and after a thorough look, we see that Max and Goose have gone up into the office where we get to meet the head of the police. The Boss is a bit of a hard ball and we see that Charlie has survived his throat being cut and has had to have a voice box fitted after the accident. Suddenly a call comes over the radio and they are all sent to attend an accident. Although we do not see the accident, only the clean up process the boss calls Max aside and tells him that friends of the Night Rider are out to get him. Max laughs at this when told as if to say 'Oh another one to add to the collection.'
The scene then switches to a near by town and we see a load of bikers all pull up by the train station. The Bikers are lead by Toe cutter and they have come to collect their friend Night Riders Body from the train. Whilst in the town they cause mayhem, they start drinking and racing causing problems for the town's folk. One poor man is tied by his foot to the back of a bike and dragged through the town screaming. A young couple see all the trouble and jump in the car to head off out of town out of the way. They do not realise that they are being followed by the bikers, the bikers soon catch up to them though and when they do they start smashing there car to pieces with crowbars and axes.
Max and goose are alerted to the towns problems and head over to check things out, whilst on there way to the town they see the man from the smashed up car running away in a field stripped half naked and just think he a crazy man until they get to the smashed up car. They stop to investigate and find that one of the gang has been tied to the car. They help him unaware at first that he is a part of the gang, as goose walks further around the car he finds the woman chained by her neck to the car in a terrible mess and after she realises he is not going to hurt her, she allows Goose to free her and take her to safety.
Max frees the man named Johnny Boy who is so high on drink and drugs that he gives away that he is a part of the gang, and is taken to the station for questioning.
Max and goose try there hardest to keep Johnny Boy in the cells so they can question him but Toe cutters right hand man Bubber has arranged a lawyer to get him released and is waiting at the police station to collect him.
The boss is so angry and outraged as there is nothing they can do to keep him there, that after he is released he tells all the officers that as long as there reports look good on paper that they could get out there after these animals and do what they want to stop this gang.
We then join the Toe cutter on the beach playing with his gun, he sees that two of the bikers are playing stupid with a woman mannequin that he takes it off them sets it up against a wooden beam on the beach and blows its head off. Bubber returns with Johnny Boy and Toe cutter takes him off into the water and dunks his head under as if he is shamed by Johnny boy's behaviour.
Later that evening Goose is out after work having a few beers, but unknown to him Bubber is outside sabotaging his bike. Closing time comes and Goose jumps on his bike and zooming off down the street unaware of the damage, suddenly the bike jams and send Goose flying through the air. Battered and bruised he manages to flag down a small truck driver who knows him and together they load his bike on the back of the truck and set off home. A biker screams pas the truck and Johnny Boy is on the back of the bike and throws a brick through the windscreen. The truck is sent rolling out of control off the road. When goose regains consciousness, he is still belted into the upside down truck and there is fuel pouring all over the truck from the damaged fuel tank. Goose is trapped and he can see through the side window that Johnny Boy and Toe cutter are outside the truck. He shouts for help but Toe cutter asks Johnny Boy for a light for his cigarette. Johnny Boy lights a match for the cigarette and then blows it out. Toe cutter tuts and says to Johnny that he wanted him to just drop the match. Johnny Boy cannot do it but Toe cutter starts playing games with Johnny's mind until eventually he cracks and the truck blows up in a huge explosion with poor old Goose still in it.
Max rushes to the hospital as soon as he ears and is horrified when he sees Goose's charcoaled body even though he is barely alive. He goes home but cannot sleep for nightmares from the shock of how Goose is left slowly dying. Max's wife Jess tries to console him and help him cope with the stress and confusion but nothing seems to be helping. Max cannot take anymore so he quits the force, his boss stops him and says to take a long holiday but he cannot quit he is the best. He tells the boss whatever but he won't be back because he does not want to turn into a screwball like the bikers.
Max, Jess and there son head off on holiday but without there knowledge the biker gang are never far away. They stop for a tyre and whilst Max stays at the garage, Jess goes to get Sprog an ice cream. When she gets to the beach area just down the road she is confronted by the bikers and runs back to there car, Toenail tries to stop her getting back into the car but she manages to get away and goes racing back to Max. When she gets back to Max, she begs him to get in quick, he panics and does as she asks and they drive away.
Toe cutter and Bubber question the garage owner and through fear, he tells them where Max is heading.
When Jess and Max do eventually stop for a while, Jess discovers she has Toenails hand chained to her bumper and screams. Max calls the police and they come and take it away, then finally Max, Jess and Sprog are off to finish there journey.
They arrive safely and whilst Max does some work on there car, Jess goes down to the beach whilst the old woman they are staying with watches Sprog. Whilst at the beach Jess can hear noises and goes running back to Max, she comes across a dead dog hanging in the tree as she flees back to Max, which terrifies her even more.
Max soon realises the bikers are back and whilst Meg the old lady they are staying with comforts Jess, Max heads down to the beach to try and find them.
Meg call the police for help and then suddenly Meg and Jess realise Sprog
is nowhere to be seen. They run around desperately looking for him and suddenly Jess find Toe cutter holding Sprog.
She begs for her baby but Toe cutter just ignores her until Meg turns up with a shotgun and fires a shot into the air. The gang realise she is serious and go into the barn as she tells them and she locks them in.
The barn doors are not very strong so Meg, Jess and Sprog get in the car and drive off to try and meet the police who are on there way. By this time, Max has heard the shots fired and starts running back to the house only to see the Bikers just starting to catch up with Jess.
Suddenly the car breaks down and Jess grabs Sprog and starts running down the road away from the bikers. Meg tries to stop them by shooting at them but cannot manage to hit them. Max is just a bit further behind running for his life to catch up when suddenly the Bikers run down Jess and Sprog.
Max sees his wife and son killed by these animals and cannot take anymore. He snaps and head back to the depot for the new car they were working on. All his emotions are broken and the law means nothing anymore. Max is Mad and he wants revenge.
Mad Max speeds off in the black car seeking revenge for the death of his wife and son, and for his best friend Goose.
Does Mad Max get his revenge, and if so how. Well that you will have to watch for yourself to know.
My Opinion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although this film is now 28 years ols and I have seen in a thousand times, I must say I never tire of watching it. I personally own all the Mad Max films on DVD, and to me it will never go out of date or get boring. I am not saying it is a film you could watch every other week but once every six to eight months they get dusted down and played yet again.
It is strange to see just how young our dear Mel Ginson is in this film, and yet he plays his role, as do all the actors play there characters without fault. The film manages to keep the air of fear and thrill in you at all times, and never seems to me to have any long boring scenes like a lot of films of this time and age tended to.
I highly recommend this film .
