ConsNone.

Film. Of. The. Year. Oh, and add one more “G” to that title above – Great ‘Tache. A champion of facial hair like that sported by Machete (Danny Trejo) here deserves lauding. With three beheadings, one severed limb and several litres of blood-letting on the walls, Machete isn’t slow to get where...

ConsCompletely absurd

If you can remember back as far as 2007, you will recall that there was a not-very-popular (both critically and commercially) film called “Grindhouse,” an attempt made by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino to make the idea of a double feature film more appealing. It didn’t work out so well...

ProDecent Action movie, fast paced

ConsLots of blood & gore, not too much plot

Over the years I’ve had a bit of a habit of watching just about every movie that Steven Seagal has ever made and although that has waned recently, I was very keen to see Machete. The film is an extended version of a trailer made in 2007 for Grindhouse and now Robert Rodriguez has developed the...

ProExciting and sexy

ConsA lot of violence

The 2010 film, Machete, is an interesting film as it is an extension of a fake trailer that featured in the Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino 2007 film feature, Grindhouse. Machete is about a deadly Mexican called Machete Cortez who is seeking vengeance. Machete is about a highly skilled...

ProViolent action and B movie fun

ConsA bit over the top at times

Robert Rodriguez is the sort of director that manages to draw you in with entertainment while keeping the whole thing tongue in cheek and a bit silly. Machete is no different to this style, with the machete wielding Danny Trejo taking the title role on in a much deserved lead role that won't win...

Manufacturer's product description

Robert Rodriguez brings a new breed of anti-hero to the big screen in this hyper-violent adaptation of the fake trailer originally featured in the 2007 double-feature exploitation throwback GRINDHOUSE. Machete (Danny Trejo) is a former Mexican Federale who plays by his own rules, and doesn't answer to anybody. In the wake of a harrowing encounter with feared drug lord Torrez (Steven Seagal), Machete finds himself in Texas, where the shadowy Benz (Jeff Fahey) offers him the opportunity to make some quick cash by assassinating the unscrupulous Senator McLaughlin (Robert De Niro). When the job goes awry and Machete realizes he's been set up, he turns to fierce taco queen Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), heavily-armed holy man Padre (Cheech Marin), and trigger-happy socialite April (Lindsay Lohan) to show Benz that he just messed with the wrong Mexican. But before they can get to Benz, Machete's gang will have to contend with blade-wielding ICE agent Sartana (Jessica Alba), who never met an adversary she couldn't flay.
