Advantages: GREAT stunts and special effects, Theron looking stunning! Disadvantages: Some of the characters lack the depth that would make them engaging
gorgeously fitting tight leather, who works for a rebel group trying to avenge a set of mysterious deaths. I do not wish to ruin the film for you lot so that's all I'm telling you!.
SPECIAL EFFECTS
The special effects are what make this film really stand out for me! There are some really beautiful and stunning scenes and the film starts with a brilliant one where we see the kick ass awesomeness of AeonFlux, who's assassin-like skills are demonstrated by her ability to catch a fly with her eyelashes!!
CHARACTERS
The main character of AeonFlux and one of her sidekicks is developed quite well and their dialogue together is actually quite good but the peripheral characters lack the depth which could have made this film quite special.
SPECIAL FEATURES
The special features on the DVD are not bad either! There are a fair few features ...

Advantages: Decent enough in places; Theron's wardrobe! Disadvantages: No oomph at all; more like an episode of a TV series than a film
I've been putting off watching AeonFlux for a while, although I'm not too sure why. It probably had something to do with the negative feedback it gained after promising so much. Adapted from a sci-fi series in the early 1990s and starring Charlize Theron, who is usually on fire on screen, I was surprised when it got slated, but last night, with the wife round at a friend's house and son William tucked up in bed, I thought I'd give it a go.
The plot is far fetched, but then it's sci-fi fantasy. In the year 2011, a virus kills 99% of the World's population. Dr Goodchild creates a vaccine, and takes the remaining 5 million inhabitants to a safe location to try and reconstruct humanity. 400 years later, the Goodchilds have continued to run the government and improve things, but now there is a small gang of fighters known as the Monicans ...

Advantages: It won't make its budget back Disadvantages: Where do I start?!?
Charlize Theron with this pile of cack. Apparently she damaged her neck while doing the stunts for this movie; if only her pain had been worthwhile. I've seen trees less wooden than her performance here. It's hard to believe this is the same woman that poured heart and soul into making Aileen Wournos human in "Monster". She manages to make AeonFlux even more two-dimensional than her animated incarnation. She spends most of the film staring blankly into the middle-distance, occasionally speaking in a flat monotone and failing to engage the audience. She can't even make a kiss with her real-life fiancé Stuart Townsend look convincing.
Oscar nominee Sophie Okonedo gives a sulky, constipated performance as Aeon's multi-handed sidekick Sithandra. She's never given enough to do and one gets the feeling her stunt double spent more time on set than ...

In the early 1990s, animator Peter Chung presaged the bleak futurism of THE MATRIX with his cutting-edge animated series AEON FLUX. The edgy cult favorite originated as a sequence of film shorts aired as part of MTV's animation showcase, Liquid Television, but proved to be so popular that it was soon expanded into its own full-length series. Moody and stylish, the sci-fi-themed series chronicled the morally ambiguous adventures of its titular antiheroine, Aeon Flux, an acrobatic and bondage-clad secret agent who carried out her mercenary missions in a futuristic, BLADE RUNNER-like society. In addition to a unique visual style that echoed Japanese anime, the series distinguished itself with experimental narrative that eschewed continuity, plot, and even dialogue for a distinctly postmodern slice of sci-fi nihilism. Innovative and highly influential, AEON FLUX is presented in its entirety.
