...the Springsteen gig atmosphere in our living room. When I came home for a couple of days recently my mam insisted on having these DVDs on almost constantly, especially his LiveinBarcelonaDVD, which I m reviewing for you now.
The live show contained on this DVD was filmed on the 16th of October 2002, two months into the E Street Band?s world tour following the release of The Rising album a mere three months earlier. Since The Rising is probably my favourite album of Bruce?s whole back catalogue, I love this DVD for the number of Rising songs featured in this show. My favourites include... well, ALL of this album to be honest, but the best performed song from The Rising on this DVD has to be Mary?s Place, in my opinion. ...LivingIn Oblivion is a low budget independent film written and directed by Tom DiCillo and starring Steve Buscemi and Dermot Mulroney.
Sure, these aren't A-list stars, but that lends itself to the story. If it was a film about the making of a film and you had George Clooney and Brad Pitt pretending to be small time actors you wouldn't believe it. It's almost like a documentary, it is very realistic and gives you the complete story as to what it's like trying to get a film made.
There are a few...

...'I think a life spent in music is a life beautifully spent and this is what I devoted my life to.' LucianoPavarotti 1935 - 2007
I am not a particularly sentimental person and I certainly have no respect for the cult of celebrity, but I will not deny that I shed a small tear of sadness this morning when I heard the news that Pavarotti had lost his battle against cancer.
I am sure that over the course of the next few days we will be overdosed with phrases like 'larger than life', 'enormous talent' and any others that our overpaid tabloid editors can come up with to link his incredible talent with the size of his waistline. But for me, Pavarotti's shape was never in my mind, to watch him sing with the emotion and passion that he did and whether he was an incredible actor or it was entirely genuine there is a expression in his...
