Louis Theroux: The Collection

Advantages: A decades worth of his best work
Disadvantages: Could do with more extras

A hugely enjoyable 4-DVD box set and a must for all Louis fans. Including: WEIRD WEEKENDS: Porn, Head for the Hills,Swingers, Black Nationalism, Wrestling, South Africa,Thai brides, Gangsta Rap. Plus : WHEN LOUIS MET: Jimmy (Saville), Paul and Debbie (Daniels and Magee), Chris Eubank, Ann Widdecombe, and the all time classic......THE HAMILTONS!!!!......also included Louis and the Nazis, Louis and the Brothel and TV Nation clips. Louis uses his none- judgemental style to win over his subjects in most cases, allowing them to open up and expose their, eye-popping, cringeworthy, hilarious and blood boiling lives to the viewer. Louis' ability to contain his views is admirable, whilst slipping in the odd, brilliantly timed witty remark that has become his trademark over a decade of broadcasting. His time spent with Great British ...

Weird and Wacky

Advantages: Informative, strange and funny at the same time
Disadvantages: Only on once a week for 50 mins!!!

running the agency - some old, disgusting man with a big nose going out with loads of Thai girls in their 20's - urghh... Another time, rap artists in the U.S.A were investigated, aswell as female bodybuilders(but you could have thought some of them were male.) The thing is, what makes the programme so good is not just the strange people on it but Louis Theroux himself. Something which is original about him in comparison to other presenters on TV is that he is down-to-earth and doesn't try to steal the show and act all big-headed. Aswell as sounding interested, he does make fun of the people sometimes, but in a really clever and subtle way, ensuring that there is some humour in the programme. I highly reccommend this programme, and although the series has finished now, hopefully we will get some more weird weekends brought to our ...

Review of UK Horizons - Louis Theroux´s Weird Weekends

Call Of The Weird Indeed!

Advantages: Different, interesting read
Disadvantages: See the TV shows first?

chapter about Ike Turner is mainly focused on how wronged he feels at his portrayal in the media, namely the film 'What's Love Got To Do With It', which is about his turbulent life with Tina. Most would not have any sympathy with the man but Louis obviously has a grudging respect for his hard-faced attitude in the face of his negative press. This is what is often so engrossing with Louis Theroux. He sometimes builds friendships with the unlikeliest of people such as prostitutes and porn stars and it makes great television. It also makes for great reading but I would recommend his 'Weird Weekend' shows as compulsory viewing before you pick up the book. Only then would you get a totally rounded view of the subjects and the interviewer himself. Louis's sharp intellect comes across particularly well when he demonstrates his journalistic skills on ...
