Created by successful television producer J.J. Abrams (FELICITY, ALIAS), LOST became one of the most popular and critically acclaimed programs of the 2004-2005 season. Utilising a...
more...ripe premise and well-drawn and acted characters, LOST attracted a huge following and was proclaimed the saving grace of a television year otherwise marred by derivative reality programming. The story concerns the survivors of a terrible plane crash, who find themselves stranded on a tropical island with seemingly little chance of a rescue. Medical doctor Jack takes a position of leadership, helping to rally the survivors and prepare them for a period of difficulty as they learn how to survive on the paradisiacal island. But everything is not as it seems, as the island offers potential danger in the form of a large, mysterious creature, and evidence is found that the plane crash may not have been an accident. As they struggle to survive, each of the characters forms alliances and makes enemies, all while dealing with the unresolved issues of the lives they've left behind. LOST distils the difficulties of society down to their essence, exploring these problems with compelling characters and with a setting that's equal parts paradise and mystery.

Storyline:
The story begins with a plane, flying from Sydney to Los Angeles, which crashes on to an island, an island which no one knows about and does not even exists on the map. In this deserted island, the 42 survivors' hope of being rescue is diminishing day by day, how are they going to survive? And more importantly, are they really "alone" on the island?

My view:
Unilike other popular yet falbulous US drama, such as friends, ER, OC etc., lost is the drama that you could not and should not miss any ONE episode. Therefore, first of all, I would recommand anyone that haven't seen the first series of lost not to start watching series 2 before you are done with series 1.

The reason for me to say that is due to the nature of the drama. In lost, each episode is composed of flashbacks of a particular character. Their flashbacks are then very much related to who they really are and the storyline. They each got a reason to go onto the flight, just like we are when we take a flight. And the story behind each of the character is what made you think that you know the character and understand the reason behind their acts on the island. I think one of the outstanding features of lost is its success in creating and differentiating its characters.

If you haven't watched series one, I would recommand you not to read the rest of the review as I afraid i might spoil the surprises you can get from season 1.
For those of you who have watched series 1 but haven't watched series 2, don't worry, i will not spoil your surprises, though I would say BE PREPARED!! there would really be many surprises and unexpected.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Progress seems to have been made at the end of season 1: Micheal, Watt, Sawyer and Jin are on the raft; Locke, Jack, Kate and Hurley have opened the hatch. BUT, can they really get off the island as they wish? What is inside the hatch? Is the hatch a safer place, or conversely, is an even more dangerous place for them to hide from the others? I bet that these are the questions in your head when you finished season 1.. but no worries, season 2 will really tell you what's going on! I will not say any details as there are many unexpected in these series, in my opinion, even more surprises than series 1. Some questions (in fact, a very big question) is answered at the end of season 2 (which will not be in this DVD). but another BIG question arises.
For season 1, I will say everything seems very non-scientific/unrealistic. And the beginning of series 2 also seems very non-scientific (more about Locke's faith view rather than Jack's scientific view). But unexpectedly, towards the end of series 2, it has responded to the some of the mysteries with realistic and scientific reasons. I couldn't stop praising whoever is responsible for the storyline, he is JUST SO CLEVER, being able to explain things in this way!!!!!

Well, quickly go grab the DVD and you will know what I am talking about!!!
Am now really looking forward to seeing the third series, hope it will keep the standard of Lost high and won't disappoint us.

p.s. just some information for you guys. A few weeks before the director said there will be 6, at most 7 series of lost!! really looking forward to it though i am not so sure how he is going to have 7 series of stuff to happen just on the island!! will be waiting for it though :)
