Lost is the hit tv show based around the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 , who crashed on an unknown island. However, as the survivors try to adjust to life on the pictureque island while they await rescue, they find out they haven't crashed on any normal beach.
Unlike other tv shows where theres only a few main characters, around 15 characters have lead roles. Characters include Jack (Matthew Fox), - an experienced surgeon in LA with a trobled background, Sawyer (Josh Holloway) - a conman who won't cooperate with the rest of the group, Kate (Evangeline Lilly) - a fugitive after murdering her step-father, Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) - a guitarist for the Mancunian band "Drive Shaft" (a lot of similarities to Oasis).
In the debut season, we see the crash happen and the aftermath on the first few nights involving injuries. However as time passes some of the characters decide to leave the beach where they crashed to find essentials, food, water, shelter, communication etc. However we also learn that theres more to the island than that meets the eye - "monsters", other possible inhabitants, even polar bears live out there. However theres one thing everyones interested in as the series progresses - a mysterious bunker found in the jungle which seems impossible to get into! Also during the series, each episode mainly tells the story of one of the characters through flash-backs and how they came to board the unlucky Sydney to L.A. airplane that crashed. All of these events make many questions that will leave viewers wondering what things are, how did this happen etc. which even to the third season we still don't fully understand some of the secrets of the island or the survivors.
This season is 24 episodes in length - around 30 minutes each in a 7 disc box set (too many discs in my opinion) which also includes some special features like unaired footage and deleted scenes, the making of the pilot episode, cast interviews, audio commentaries and many more.
I only got into the show when season 2 was starting, and rushed out to buy this set so I could understand the newer series, and I loved it. All the questions the plot creates makes this programme addictive television and a show that must be watched, However I will say that the show becomes too far-fetched from season 3. The cast is fantastic mainly because the characters were written and changed for the actors when they auditioned for other parts.
I believe this show is must watch television however it make not be suitable for those who don't want to try to remember what happened episodes ago just for a bit of the plot.

Agree that Lost can be addictive but I've stopped watching now as I feel that the producers have dragged the story on for too long. Great Review though
