undertaken by the unseen 'researcher' Robinson and his similarly unseen companion, the film's narrator (voiced by Paul Scofield)London is a journal of 1992, the year of John Major's re-election, IRA bombs and the first crack in the House of Windsor. Scathing reflections on the recent past are enlivened by off beat humour and wide-ranging literary anecdotes.Robinson in Space sees Robinson commissioned to undertake a study of the 'problem' of England. Keiller's immaculately framed images and sly deadpan narration take the viewer on an unpredictable exploration of the cultural and economic landscape.

Review: [On Robinson In Space] An intellectually exciting movie that makes us think afresh about the world (The Observer, )
Advantages: Plot twist, special effects, Gary Oldman Disadvantages: Everything else
...When I was a kid, every Sunday I watched reruns of the popular drama, 'Lost InSpace', about a family who went up into space and got lost (funny that, the title kind of gives it away!). So, when they made the decision to remake the series into a film, giving it a futuristic overhaul, I was really excited. The film was released in 1998, and its running time is 130 minutes.
The Plot
In the year 2058, scientists have realised that in order for the population of Earth to survive, they must relocate to somewhere outside the planet, for it is dying. The Robinson family are sent into space to colonise 'Alpha Prime' to see if this is possible, yet they find themselves literally lost inspace when the sinister Smith stows away. Dr John Robinson and family then find themselves searching for a way back home and fighting for their own...

Advantages: Great piece of classic TV history Disadvantages: Perhaps a little more dated than some?
...The good news is that I have, on my desk, all of the entire Lost InSpace the complete series on DVD. The bad news is that, as they are only journalist's review copies, I have to send them all back. Within one week?
Still, the last time I saw the first episode was when I was knee high to a grasshoppers so it was interesting to see how the series first began, all those years ago. The first episodes were in black and white which lasted for some time until Irwin Allen the producer was able to convince the studio to go to the extra expense of colour. And it has to be said that this idea did work very well, as it mean that the production department was able to go all out with colourful costumes and backdrops, etc.
The concept of the series was an interesting one. In 1997 (well, that was 30 years into the future!) overpopulation was such...

Advantages: Brilliant rooms, service, food, internet etc Disadvantages: expensive!!!
...In the middle of February, I was lucky enough to be whisked away for a long weekend inLondon with my grandma. I?m a huge fan of west end shows and musicals, and so our trip was booked- we would go and see various different shows. I couldn?t wait to go.
One thing I hadn?t thought of before going however was which hotel we were staying in. I reckoned that we wouldn?t be spending too much time in the hotel itself, as we were going to be very busy, so as long as it had two beds, a bathroom and some sort of wardrobe I?d have been happy. I knew the name of the hotel was The Grosvenor, however I didn?t have a clue what its reviews were like, or in fact how many stars it had.
Getting to the hotel
We had absolutely no problem finding the hotel. We took the train from our hometown, to King?s Cross inLondon. We only had to wait...
