who's got to go to Earth and retrieve his nasty, power-hungry brothers lest they take over Hell and make it a thoroughly evil place. As with Sandler's other films, this weird premise (based oh-so-loosely onKing Lear) is just an excuse to trot out a hodgepodge of comic bits and cameo performances. Admittedly, a lot of the jokes don'twork (there was no need to repeat the one about shoving a pineapple up Hitler's ass) but the ones that do tend to be more memorable than the ones that don't, making for a pretty funny movie, when all is said and done. Sure, it's hard to overcome Sandler's speech impedimentdu jour, not to mention that romantic subplot with Patricia Arquette but it can be done by focusing on the brilliant cameos by Regis Philbin, Reese Witherspoon, Ozzy Osborne, and Henry Winkler (especially when he's covered with bees), as well as one of the funniest uses of a scene from De Palma'sScarfacein years. Supporting Sandler throughout are two very funny heavy metal disciples and a bulldog named Beefy (voiced by Robert Smigel, the man behindTriumph the Insult Comic Dog). And, in an almost unrecognisable cameo, that's Clint Howard as the cross-dressing fetishist named "Nipples".--Andy Spletzer, Amazon.com

My conclusion?
If this were a school report it would probably say “Must Try Harder”.
American comedy films usually have to work quite hard to entertain me – more often than not they are propped up by endless amounts of schoolboy humour that starts off as being quite amusing but eventually ends up being well over used. Little Nicky is a strange film in that the sentiment and most of the content is dumbed down to the level of a Disney movie, yet every now and again there is a little burst of Carry On Film naughtiness. One thing I would say is that other reviews that I have read say that some of the scenes in the film are offensive – this is absolute nonsense. The whole film is so tongue in cheek that I defy anyone to be offended by this.
The plot of the film is very simple. Down in Hell, Satan has decided to announce who will be the victor to his throne, and rule the underworld for the next 10,000 years. Satan has three sons – Nicky is sweet and gentle; Adrian is the nasty piece of work, sly and devious; Cassius is the meat-head – all teeth and tits. When Satan announces that none of his sons are ready to take over, Adrian and Cassius get a bit pissed off, and decide to go up to Earth to start their own kingdom of evil, over which they can rule. In doing so, they freeze the gateway between Hell and Earth – which results in the gradual decomposition of their father. Satan’s only hope is to send his remaining son, Nicky, up to Earth as well, in order to capture his brothers and return them to Hell – which will result in the gateway re-opening. The only problem is that Nicky has never been to Earth before and knows nothing about how to survive. His only guide is a talking bulldog named Mr Beefy – but will they be a match for his two evil brothers?
Despite the film’s demonic characters and satanic setting, don’t expect anything more than very light entertainment here. Satan is portrayed as an attractive, debonair family man whose powers actually seem very limited. The devils and demons in his kingdom range from a playful Chewbacca wannabe to a dimwit gatekeeper, whose failings ultimately result in him gaining a pair of breasts on his head. If it all sounds too silly for words, it’s probably because it is – I could list reams and reams of characters and events that were almost infantile in their portrayal, but then the film never tried to be anything else.
The plot romps along at a fair old pace, with Nicky initially getting killed at a rate of knots as he works out that you can’t stand in front of trains or walk in front of buses. Some of the funnier sequences involve Adrian and Cassius causing havoc by impersonating city dignitaries including the mayor, a bishop and a basketball referee, but the funniest character for me was Mr Beefy. His voice was perfect, and the animated movements of the animals mouth really looked like he was talking. The balance between Mr Beefy’s more sophisticated side (he likes grass, and the ladies) and his more animal side (he tends to piss on things) was genuinely very funny, but then talking animals always could make me laugh.
The film contains a fair amount of special effects – some quite effective (Nicky turns into a swarm of baby spiders, complete with baby Nicky heads) but others not quite so effective (Adrian’s metamorphosis into a bat) and I was also disappointed with most of the scenes set in Hell. The set pieces and scenery were very uninteresting, and Hell itself was portrayed as a singularly rather dull place. Whilst I appreciate the need to keep the film jolly and funny, I couldn’t help thinking that Satan was a bit of a wimp, and his kingdom was a half-hearted effort. I also find the continual attempts by Hollywood to link demons and devils with heavy metal enthusiasts all rather dull – throughout the film there are two Motorhead/Iron Maiden fans whose “Wayne’s World” characters have been seen and done many times before.
Having seen this film, I fail to see what all the fuss about Adam Sandler is. One of the most irritating attributes of Nicky’s character is the fact that he has a speech impediment, caused when one of his brother’s hit him with a shovel. As a result of this, Sandler does his best “Hunchback of Notre Dame” impression and puts on a voice that frankly was excruciating to listen to. If I were grading Sandler’s performance on his ability to portray a moron then he gets full marks – as a likeable character he got zero. Regrettably, his brothers weren’t much better. Cassius was stereotypically muscle-bound and ugly, whilst Adrian was sneering and English (what other nationality could a bad guy be?). Even Harvey Keitel’s Satan was relatively uninteresting (though unquestionably charming). Reese Witherspoon pops up as an angel called Holly. Witherspoon’s ability to play airhead bimbos is frighteningly realistic, but fans of her performance in Clueless will love this role too. Patricia Arquette plays the love interest – a shy bespectacled bookworm called Valerie who plays a perfect partner for Nicky – despite being singularly of no interest whatsoever.
Despite some good lines, the brilliant talking dog and lots of spectacular visuals, Little Nicky really didn’t impress me. Where the film really falls down is the highly improbable (and downright inconsistent) plot that hurtles along until it virtually self-destructs. Despite the fact that Adrian and Cassius have frozen the gateway between Hell and Earth, Nicky seems to be able to flit backwards and forwards like a cat through a cat-flap. His tool for capturing his brothers (a magical flask) is supposed to form an unbreakable prison – yet at the climax of the film, characters seem to be able to get in and out at the drop of a hat. Don’t get me wrong – I fully understand that this is a fantasy film, but it should at least add up.
I hired this film because I couldn’t really spot anything else worth watching – and it is under these circumstances that I would probably recommend it.
Try not to expect too much – and then you won’t be disappointed….
Advantages: Good performances from Keitel and Ifans, strong soundtrack, impressive array of DVD extras Disadvantages: Aimed squarely at US market, stereotypes abound, no really memorable gags
...the piece; and of course Little Nicky (Sandler) - in the words of the Devil himself "such a sweet boy". Guess which two offspring are not happy when their father announces he has decided instead to extend his own tenure?
Thus Adrian and Cassius leave Hell through the Gateway of Damned Souls which causes it to close. This in turn means that the Devil (literally) goes to pieces (don't ask why, or there would be no plot!) To reverse this process and ... ...living and bring his brothers back through the Gateway - a task in which he is aided by Mr. Beefy, an old friend of his father's who just happens to be a bulldog. In fact Nicky needs all the help he can get as he's never stepped outside of the castle walls before...
There is of course some romantic interest along the way for our (anti-)hero provided by a suitably madeover Patricia Arquette as the strong-willed but shy art student Valerie. The film ...

Advantages: Talking Dog Disadvantages: Crass jokes, groan groan
Boring, unfunny and vaguely irritating. Instead of laughs you will find yourself groaning frequently if you make the mistake of watching this pile of total rubbish. I like Adam Sandler in general, I found Happy Gilmore funny, The Waterboy was good and so was the Wedding Singer, but this is almost enough to put me off. The film was co written by Sandler and gradually begins to make sense if you see it as a huge expensive ego trip, they all think they ... ...the Devil (Harvey Keitel) has to choose which son to succeed him to the throne of Hell. He decides none of them and the two 'bad' sons escape to earth thereby causing Keitel to disintegrate slowly. Nicky (Sandler) has to get to earth and capture his brothers to bring them back to Hell before his father dissappears completely. You very quickly get the impression that this scenario allowed them to make certain jokes and that is why it was chosen, the ...

...fallacy. Sometimes it’s just a little too over the top and can be highly annoying.
There are plenty of big names to spot; even Quentin Tarentino found time to join the cast as a blind priest, preaching to the public of New York. I suggest that you check it out for yourself, even if you just watch it for a game of ‘Who’s Who?’ Just remember that Sandler’s previous film, ‘The Waterboy’, was slated passionately, ...

...performances as Sandler’s brothers.
Little Nicky, follows in the footsteps of previous Sandlers child like comedies such as Big Daddy, and Happy Gilmore, and has you laughing from start to finish. Look out also for cameo appearances by people from his previous films, I spotted about 6 including the delivery guy from Big Daddy, so see how many you can spot.
Its packed full of hilarious sketches, and one liners including a very funny episode ... ...whose punishment for his sins is funny to say the least. The twist in the end when Nicky enlists some extra help in trying to defeat his brothers is also hilarious, and I personally almost wet myself during this sequence.
Its one of those laugh a minute comedy’s that gives you a pick me up when you desperately need it, and I would highly recommend it to future consumers, at around 90minutes long its quite short, and in fact exactly the right ...

Advantages: great comedy with a lot of laughs Disadvantages: a bit short
...haven't watched in ages - little nicky.
While I should and do feel content with this Adam Sandler comedy, I felt somewhat taken away from this film. Mainly because his first two leads (Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison) were masterpieces of the ridiculous comedy. And now, we have Sandler not as low budget which is fine, but it is slightly dropped down this time from those classics.
But even though it isn't as good as them two films it still is a ... ...apart.
Its up to little nicky to save him by taking on his brothers on earth and bring them back to hell before his dad wastes away. He's Never Been To Earth. He's Never Even Slept Over Some Other Dude's House. So this is a big battle on his hands to save his dad from dieing.

Advantages: Two great films! Disadvantages: One not so good film.
When i first see these three films in one boxset i thought to myself three comedies so why not! But thinking about it apart from being all comdies there's nothing that really links these films together so why put them in a boxset?
I could understand three Adam Sandler films on one boxset or the three Austin Power films together but i'm just not getting it???
You will probably save a pounds in buying it like which is always good but if you're like me i put my DVD's in some kind of order i.e all my Adam Sandler films together which i doubt you could do with this.
Ok rant over looking at the films they are good!

Christine Taylor plays Holly Sullivan.
Allen Covert plays Sammy.
Matthew Glave plays Glenn Gulia.

The film is a 12 certificate, which means it is unsuitable for anyone under the age of 12. I don?t remember this film containing any sex or nudity, I think there was some kissing and bad language though.
The films running time is 97 minutes long approximate and is a romantic comedy. It was directed by Frank Coraci (The Waterboy and Murdered Innocence) and written by Tim Herlihy (LittleNicky and The Waterboy).

DVD Description
Continuing in the tradition of his hits THE WATERBOY and HAPPY GILMORE, Adam Sandler stars in LITTLE NICKY, a supernatural comedy about Satan's geekiest son. Nicky (Sandler) is relieved when his father (Harvey Keitel) decides to continue as ruler of the underworld for another 10,000 years instead of picking one of his bullying brothers, Adrian (Rhys Ifans) or Cassius (Tom "Tiny" Lister), to reign. Adrian and Cassius, hungry for power, decide to travel to New York City in order to spread Hell on Earth. Only Nicky can stop them and save his father--and the world--from his brothers' evil schemes. But Nicky has no idea what to expect from New York City, and he has to deal with new activities such as eating, sleeping, and meeting a new girlfriend, Valerie (Patricia Arquette). His friends Mr. Beefy, a talking bulldog, and John and Peter, a pair of hardcore heavy metal fans, try to help Nicky stand up for himself and eventually save the universe. LITTLE NICKY features a cast of regulars from other Adam Sandler movies, plus a hilariously bizarre sense of humor that allows all sorts of odd and twisted things to happen.
