Lilo and Stitch, is yet another hit film produced by those Hollywood giants, Disney. This one is my all time favourite, and although it contains that illustrious Disney quality and all the features of a Disney classic, it has a significant modern twist involving social workers and aliens! Sounds bizzare?
It is a bit, but the plot works so well, and has you willing Lilo and Stitch on the whole way through, hoping they too will have that coveted, Disney Happily Ever After Ending - And of course they do.
I bought my daughter the Lilo and Stitch DVD for her last birthday, and paid £11.99 for a gift set containing the DVD itself, a Lilo and Stitch paperback book and a delightful little stitch soft toy.
The DvD can now be obtained for much cheaper of course, and if you shop around on the internet there are prices starting from £2.99 for a second hand copy.
The DVD which Cherith (my daughter) has contains bonus footage, as well as the movie itself. There is so much crammed on this DVD from games to create your own alien life form, to the suspicious minds soundtrack and video, to easy to follow Hula Lessons given by Lilo herself.
The movie is obviously set in Hawai, and immediately zooms in on a little girl called Lilo who stays with her older sister after tradgically losing both her mum and dad. In the eyes of young Lilo her home is "broken but still good".
Lilo goes to the local dog pound to adopt a dog, and ends up with Stitch - an alien! Stitch causes lots of caos and has "very high levels of badness for someone so small" says Lilo. However, she assures stitch of "Ohana", an old family tradition which means she will always love him and that nobody gets left behind. Lilo tries to mold stitch into a model citizen and offers him the family he has never known.
While all this is happenening, the social worker is determined to remove Lilo from this broken home, but after recusing her from her alien abductors and listening to Stitch's story of unconditional love from Lilo and her sister, changes his mind. And of course like so many Disney stories, all ends in happiness.
If you have not watched this yet then you must. It's delightful for children and adults of all ages and will surely stand the test of time.

Advantages: Kids will like it, Elvis soundtrack, ocassional funny moment, 'cute' if you like that kind of thing Disadvantages: Lazy, lazy production. Disney morals(again), no surprises, not a classic Disney movie by any stretch of the imagination
Advantages: lovely quality of drawn animation, positive messages, realistic body forms and facial feautres Disadvantages: some of the extras could have been left off without harm
Advantages: Great soundtrack from Elvis, Original characters and nice family plot line Disadvantages: Its mad that the characters actually believe Stitch is a dog when he is clearly an alien!!
