I'm mature, honest. Lilo And Stitch was the only thing worth seeing, it was this or some dire horror film about people getting murdered in a house(original idea). Although I don't say it too often, I am a big fan of Disney films and in this case was happier to watch a cartoon than anything Hollywood had to offer. Lilo And Stitch is a much needed step towards the first films that Disney made, especially after the disappointing Atlantis. Sensibly they decided to return to the retro charm of their first cartoons and Lilo And Stitch is the first Disney in six decades to use original water colour backgrounds.
The old fashioned look of the film goes perfectly with the gorgeous Hawaii setting and gives the film a charm that was missing from computer animation like Shrek and Toy Story. Lilo And Stitch re-affirms Disney's talent after a few uninspired efforts and shows that they still
possess the imagination to entertain yet another generation of kids. Whilst being a very enjoyable film it doesn't quite reach the realm of the classics; The Lion King, Bambi etc, but is still miles above efforts such as Hercules and The Fox And The Hound. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the film is that Disney seems to finally have dispensed with the usual procedure of covering us in syrupy sentiment and force feeding us morals.
Instead, Lilo And Stitch approaches the task of educating and well as entertaining by being ultra modern as well as didactic. The first thing we notice is that Lilo And Stitch is unconventional in terms of its characters and that the story is totally made up, compared to the usual fairy tale source material. The give away that this didn't come from Hans Christian Anderson is the plot concerning Stitch, an alien killing machine programmed to destroy and created by an insane criminal genius. The film begins as Stitch escapes from his prison and crash lands on earth in Hawaii. Sent after him are two stereotypical bungling sidekicks; his creator and a clever but cowardly expert on planet earth. Next, we meet Lilo, a lonely little orphan who is looked after by her older sister and has trouble making friends.
To cheer Lilo up after she is late to a rehearsal and attacks another girl, her sister takes her to the dog shelter where she promptly falls in love with Stitch who conceals his alien identity and passes himself off as a dog. What follows is a surprisingly touching and very funny story of how Stitch learns to stop destroying, Lilo makes a friend, and the two bumbling sidekicks ruin every opportunity to catch Stitch. I will miss out the whole plot but I think it's safe to tell you that it all ends happily ever after.
Whether you enjoy the new look, ultra modern Disney with its dysfunctional families and evil aliens is up to you but you can rest assured that it has plenty of laughs and classic moments. Personally I thought that the script is one of the best for a long time with the right amount of silliness and warm, family feelgood atmosphere. There are loads of great lines both funny and sad such as "Oh good, my dog found the chainsaw" and (the orphaned Lilo watches Stitch leaving) "Don't worry, i'll remember you. I remember everyone who leaves".
The comedy duo of bungling aliens aren't as funny as intended but they are compensated for by Ving Rhames' hulking social worker, Mr Bubbles and the gravel voiced, deadpanning head alien. As usual there is a fantastically exciting climax and plenty of songs to bop to such as the Elvis inspired soundtrack and tradtional Hawaiian chants. The only let down is Gareth Gates's Suspicious Minds, but luckily they play this in the credits so you can avoid it by running as soon as the film ends. All the sentiment and morals are present but wound into the story more skilfully than usual so that kids will still understand and adults won't be left yawning. It is a true family movie with moments meant for adults and kids so that no one is bored and everyone gets something out of the film. So instead of tramatising your kids by taking them to see the new 12A rated Spiderman which is full of violence, take them to see some wholesome family fun about a psychotic alien killing machine. They'll love it.

This is one of Walts better efforts in recent years, i mean why bring out sequals to classics, i can wait for snow white and the 7 dwarfs 2 - Dopey has a love child. How desperate are they - Kobra
Advantages: Kids will like it, Elvis soundtrack, ocassional funny moment, 'cute' if you like that kind of thing Disadvantages: Lazy, lazy production. Disney morals(again), no surprises, not a classic Disney movie by any stretch of the imagination
Advantages: Very funny; enjoyable for both children and adults Disadvantages: Backgrounds lack detail; very young children may have trouble following the plot

Advantages: lovely quality of drawn animation, positive messages, realistic body forms and facial feautres Disadvantages: some of the extras could have been left off without harm
Advantages: Great soundtrack from Elvis, Original characters and nice family plot line Disadvantages: Its mad that the characters actually believe Stitch is a dog when he is clearly an alien!!
