Well at the start of the year I promised myself instead of talking about toning up I would actually this time do something about it....surprisingly I did and I feel great.
One of the tools I used in my bid to shape up and get fit for Summer was the brilliant Latina Size dvd.
As a fan of Strictly Come Dancing I thought this would be a fun way to shape up (and I liked the idea of learning some moves!).
The dvd is broke down into 5 sections: Simply Salsa, Rumba Tone, Jump 'n' Jive, Cha Cha Burn and Sambasize. Each one targets a different part of your body so you can alternate depending on what you want to work out. I got into the routine of focusing on the Jump 'n' Jive sections at least twice a week to help tone the dreaded thighs! There is also a warm up and cool down section.
Lilia's goes through all the moves first showing you the 'easy' versions (demonstrated by two of her dancers and then the slightly harder versions (demonstrated by Lilia and her other dancers) so you can chose what you feel comfortable with.
It 's a good fun dvd to work out to with great background music. You do work up a sweat but in typical dance style you end up smiling through the pain barrier.
In my opinion its one of the best fitness dvds around and I've tried quite a few (most of which are gathering dust now).
As with everything it needs work and you won't tone up by watching the dvd once a month whilst drinking tea and 'dunking' a digestive and wishing you had a figure like Lilia's! You've got to get into a routine, but believe me once you do you'll wish you started it months ago.
Only downside you need to have a 'bigish' area to dance around in - I did bang into the coffee table once of twice!
In summary... great fun way to tone up for the beach.
