If you like Eddie Murphy & Martin Lawrence, you will love this film, If not the chances are you will still like it, or maybe even really enjoy it.
This Columbia Trystar Film is set in Mississippi in the 1930’s where racism, bootlegging, & life imprisonment where at there peak, and an everyday occurrence.
Eddie Murphy plays (Rayford Gibson) a smooth dressed crook that is into a gangster for a lot of money, he must pay or where the concrete boots (as it where). Where as Martin Lawrence Plays (Claude Banks) a stiff collar bank teller, who wouldn’t dream of breaking the law. That is all about to change when he bumps into Rayford, gets roped into doing a job with him by the gangster who is owed the money by Rayford. As you can expect, things don’t go as planned & the two of them end up doing life imprisonment as a result of mistaken identity.
The film shows how they adapt to a life of incarceration & hard labour, not to mention various escape attempt, fights, & friends they make along the way.
The Dvd extras are a must see too there are out takes, deleted scenes, & a feature commentary that are of real interest. The out takes especially, there is one peace where Eddie Murphy completely adlibs with Martin Lawrence what I though was especially funny.
This film is full of gags, the sort of thing you could expect from these two together. Though the film is not 100% a comedy the other elements blended in expertly to make what I thought to be an excellent film indeed, a must see, even if you’re not sure you want to buy it, I would recommend you at least rent it.
A definite MUST for all you Murphy & Lawrence fans…
