Lick Library - Learn To Play The Rolling Stones DVD

Advantages: very easy to understand and awesome to play along to!
Disadvantages: could be a bit longer of a dvd, seemed rather short to be honest!

...this is an awesome dvd that shows you step by step the greatest styles of nirvana, its simply amazing how addictive it is to play along to once you start you just wanna keep on playing along to this super duper dvd i didnt realise how kool nirvana were when i got this dvd by chance i picked up lots and lots of useful guitar techniques that really advanced by playing abilities! i recommend this dvd to you all, and also you should check out the other lick library dvds, in particular the steve vai, and joe satriani ones! the only problem with these lick library dvds is that they are too short, if only they were 5 hours long! hehe, o well ul have loads of fun playing along to this and so i strongly recommend it! have fun!... Advantages: Oasis songs, good guitar techniques
Disadvantages: Noel is missing

...to be moderately easy to play. However i did see this dvd on e-bay and at only £3 curiosity got the better of me so i bought it. The first thing i will say is that immediately obvious that Noel Gallagher is not anywhere to be seen on this video!! However, Guitar ace Jamie Humphries (who?!?!?) gives you a note-by-note guide to five massive Oasis hits being Live Forever Champagne Supernova Don't Look Back In Anger Wonderwall Roll With It The dvd is watchable and does give away some "secrets" and ifluences which Noel uses in his song writing. It also teaches you every riff, chord and solo piece in each song. All in all a good dvd that will teach some young up and coming Oasis fans the style of Noel Gallagher, however for me personally I just didnt really get it with some strange guy playing Oasis songs. Definately worth buying if you want... Read review

Advantages: Two views of guitar
Disadvantages: No tab, not slow or easy to follow. "Jam along" songs incomplete

...I have never used a guitar DVD tutorial before, but have seen drumming ones. I was under the impression it was fairly standard to have tab running along the bottom of the screen, but aparently I was wrong. The DVD is hosted by Doug Boduch, proving classic sweet Clapton guitar can be made uncool. He is awkward, ugly and very uncool. He teaching skills concist of being able to play the songs, and speak English. I have been playing guitar for two years I think, and I found him hard to follow most of the time. On my version of the DVD the songs were in a different order than on the back of the case. There is no problem with this, but simply seems cheap and unprofessional. You will eventually learn the songs with this DVD, but Im sure you could find a better one to do it faster and enjoy it more.... Read review
