Lick Library - Learn To Play Led Zeppelin DVD

Advantages: very easy to understand and awesome to play along to!
Disadvantages: could be a bit longer of a dvd, seemed rather short to be honest!

...this is an awesome dvd that shows you step by step the greatest styles of nirvana, its simply amazing how addictive it is to play along to once you start you just wanna keep on playing along to this super duper dvd i didnt realise how kool nirvana were when i got this dvd by chance i picked up lots and lots of useful guitar techniques that really advanced by playing abilities! i recommend this dvd to you all, and also you should check out the other lick library dvds, in particular the steve vai, and joe satriani ones! the only problem with these lick library dvds is that they are too short, if only they were 5 hours long! hehe, o well ul have loads of fun playing along to this and so i strongly recommend it! have fun!... Advantages: well it's led zep
Disadvantages: 4:3 format mind you what can you do?

...but you also get to hear previously unseen footage and unheard songs (especially for those of us who just listen to the CD's) Jimmy Page's guiatring is so good I regularly sit at home wondering if my own guitar skills will ever match one tenth of his. John Bonham really comes alive when playing Moby Dick. Having never heard of this song before it was an absolute joy. The camera angles and editing are all seemless. You even view footage of behind the scenes at concerts and at home with the band memebers. I can never (unfortunately) say how good this DVD is compared to the real Led Zeppelin Live. All I can say is that this is the closest thing to not only getting the right music at it's core but also the atmosphere. I often wonder how, with the greatest band (in my opinion) of all time busting their guts out for you, you can sit down... Read review

Advantages: Great band - great music
Disadvantages: Extracts shown during songs are tedius

...I've always maintained that Led Zeppelin are the greatest band ever, but I found this DVD highly disappointing. Whilst the music is good and mostly what you would expect, there a far too many silly film bits, which don't really contribute to the DVD. I'm not sure what the point in most of them are, but I think it could have done without them. You'll find yourself fastforwarding a fair bit, and it's not a DVD you're going to watch on a regular basis. The music is mainly their earlier stuff up to and including Led Zep IV. However, it has notable ommisions, including Babe I'm gonna leave You, Immigrant song and Communication Breakdown. The version of Stairway to Heaven is truely beautiful, but bit like this a few and far between.... Read review
