comic genius Jim Carrey stars as a fast talking attorney and habitual liar who forced by his son's birthday wish must tell the truth for the next 24 hours.

...and farting theme.
Liar Liar, however, is a little bit different from the standard Carrey offering. True he's still larger than life and when he finds himself bound to tell nothing but the truth whatever the consequences, he slips easily into shouting, burping, wide eyed lunacy once more, but this ain't yer normal slapstick explosion of mayhem.
However, its unfortunate lapse into that other despicable characteristic of American films, the heart ... ...RIGHT IN THE END and Carrey learns a moral lesson, ending the film a MUCH BETTER AND MORE LOVABLE HUMAN BEING, does not make Liar Liar a very pleasant experience.
Inevitably there's a cute kid in it, one who his divorced father continually lets down, one who is constantly lied to by his ambitious lawyer pater, and one who ultimately wishes that for just one special day his unspeakable relation would be unable to tell lies. Cue a series of comic ...

I can't lie!!! Review ofLiar, Liar (Wide Screen)by
bigmike33
Advantages: Fun, fun and funny Disadvantages: Silly ending
Many people see Jim Carrey as a rubber faced slapstick, even if he has taken on some more serious roles in recent years, most notably The Truman Show. Love him or hate him though, Jim Carrey has massive box office appeal, with Liar Liar one of his biggest ever hits, taking an estimated £200,000,000. The film is very very funny, but not for those of you who like your comedy a little bit more subtle and sophisticated. Carrey's character in the film ... ...are so numerous and laugh out loud funny that this doesn't ruin the film. Another reason for the enduring success of Liar Liar is its family appeal, even if the film loses its way in the final third by becoming far too sickly and sentimental, obviously trying to appeal to good old fashioned values. Carrey plays Fletcher Reede, a slick attorney who seemingly has an answer for everything. He has one problem though, he can't stop lying, something which ...

Advantages: Carrey gives an amazingly explosive comic performance considering the circumstances.... Disadvantages: It’s a little mawkish in places and you will indeed cringe at them....
Going back to the comedy schtick as well-developed by his turn as ‘Ace Ventura’, Jim Carrey puts in a scintillating comic performance which would be hard to imagine any other actor could pull off.
Very much a comedy that is designed to appeal across-the-board with enough slapstick to please the kids and some occasional BUT obvious innuendo and morality to be enjoyed by adults.
The idea is simplistic and in theory, this film should have ... ...Carrey here, is Fletcher Reede, an up and coming lawyer in a law firm, whose wife has divorced him who is now with Jerry (Cary Elwes) and whose 5 year old son Max (from that marriage) doesn’t believe a word he says.
As his kid Max (Justin Cooper) stands up in class to tell the teacher what his father does for a living, he replies “My dad’s a liar....”. “You mean a lawyer” says the teacher and the kid shrugs and ...

VERY FUNNY Review ofLiar, Liar (Wide Screen)by
TeLePaThY
Advantages: - Disadvantages: -
LiarLiar is an amusing comedy film with a bit of a clichéd plot. The story centres around handsome Dad Fletcher Reede (Jim Carrey), pretty Mom Audrey (Maura Tierney), divorced but obviously still in love with each other, and their impossibly cute five-year-old son Maximus (Justin Cooper). When Max’s schoolteacher asks him what his Dad does for a living, Max replies that he is a Liar.He wears a suit, goes into the courtroom and talks to the judge. ... ...a lawyer, but Max knows what he means. His Dad promises to take him to play baseball, but doesn’t show. He promises to pick him up from school, but doesn’t come. He even fails to turn up at Max’s birthday party. That makes him a Liar. So, when he blows out the candles on his birthday cake, Max makes a big wish. For just one day, he wishes that his Dad would not be able to tell a lie. And the wish comes true, much to Fletcher’s horror. That’s because ...

Advantages: Very funny; see Jim at his best! Disadvantages: Jim is quite serious at one point...spooky!!!!
Just plain old Jim Carry playing a family man! But then Jim is NEVER plain is he? In this film Jim plays a lawyer who has trouble with the truth! He doesn't mind using unethical ways to prove someone innocent, as most of his clients are guilty and he just uses lies to get them off their charges. Jim's character is called Fletcher and he has a five year old son who lives with his ex-wife. However Fletcher's so caught up with his work that he constantly ... ...letting them down!
When Fletcher doesn't turn up to his 5th birthday, its the last straw, as the mother threatens to move away with her boyfriend taking Max (their son) with her! Max is upset that his father has lied to him again and makes a wish that 'just for one day that his dad can only tell the truth'! At the time this wish is made, Fletcher is 'pleasing' his boss by sleeping with her hoping he'll be made a partner! This goes wrong as he begins ...
