most passionately dramatic, richly colourful music. This is Colin Davis's second recording of Les Troyens, following his 1969 version. Magnificent though it was, some reckoned that reading lacked something in zip, but such reservations could never, ever apply here. Recorded across several lavishly praised concert performances in London in December 2000, this Troyens has an extraordinary electricity and rhythmic drive. Ben Heppner combines lyricism with heroic strength as Aeneas; Michelle de Young as Dido, though not erasing memories of Janet Baker' s brilliance in the role, produces a ravishing, creamy sound. Both perhaps lack the last ounce of character (and their French is occasionally flat-vowelled). Petra Lang as Cassandra is attention-grabbing from the start of the opera with her panache and commitment. Also catching the ear are Stephen Milling's granite-like Narbal and Sara Mingardo's bewitching Anna. The LSO gives its magnificent all, and the London Symphony Chorus is likewise in terrific form, although some will miss the clear-cut timbre of a fully-fledged opera chorus. The ultimate stars, though, are Berlioz and his faithful champion Davis. --Andrew Green

Advantages: really funny, decent characters Disadvantages: A bit on the short side, if your after a horror film go for Deep Blue Sea
...One of my favourite films of the moment, Lake Placid, is unintentionally funny!.
The film has the usual familar storyline, a huge crocodile is on the loose and is eating many of the local towns people and the local sheriff and co are called into investigate.
The film has a few big stars, Bill Pullman, Bridget Fonda and Oliver Platt.Brendan Gleeson who is new to me, plays the local sheriff and provides many hilarious scenes with himself and Oliver Platts character, Hector Cyr who constantly argue and swear at each other.
The outcome is inevitable and the film only lasts about eighty minutes but while it lasts it'll give you a good giggle, I recommend you rent this film now-u won't regret it!!!...

Advantages: A trip down memory lane Disadvantages: None
...I had never had the fortune to see Hectors House until around two years ago. Having seen the Virgin One Account adverts I was intrigued to see that there was a Hectors House DVD.
Hectors House was a cleverly made French Children's puppet show, the show otherwise known as La Maison de Tu Tu in France was made in 1965. The French variation had 50 five minute episodes. When the show became a massive hit the people behind shows such as the Herbs bought Hectors House to the UK. They only bought 30 of the episodes as the rest were not considered to blend in well with the British Children's audience. They dubbed the French voices into English and a sure-fire hit was created. The show was screened in the UK consistently for five years. But since 1971 the show has not been aired on UK terrestrial television.
Hectors house is a continuing story...

Advantages: Very Australian Disadvantages: Absolutely None
...This film is absolutely blindin'.
The infamous story told about notorius Australian criminal, Mark Brandon Read or "Chopper" as known to everyone, stars Troy player Eric Bana as the also best selling author.
The former stand-up comedian was requested to play the villainous aussie after a gruelling casting process didnt uncover the star.
The film is told in a very blunt way and Bana certainly does shine in the role. You can see why he was picked to play the part of hero Hector in Troy.
Fans of films such as Snatch, Fight Club etc will love this film. But if your not a fan of violence, I would stay away from this one.
I for one absolutely loved it, and the acting truly inspired me to find out more about the now reformed character Mark "Chopper" Read.
GO SEE IT! BUY IT! WHATEVER!...
