Hello people, I am back with another chick flick review which is based on the film "Legally Blonde", which stars Reese witherspoon playing a typical stereotype blonde, who has to have everything pink, her hair and nails perfect, perfect clothes…she plays it off so well!! It is a really good chick flick romantic comedy. The film was directed by Robert Luketic, the novel for this film was written by Amanda Brown and the screen script was written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kristen Smith. It was released 2001.
Main Characters in the film
Reese Witherspoon - Elle Woods Selma Blair - Vivian Kensington Luke Wilson - Emmett Richardson Matthew Davis - Warner Huntington III Victor Garber - Professor Callahan Jennifer Coolidge - Paulette Bonafonte Holland Taylor - Professor Stromwell Ali Larter - Brooke Taylor Windham
Basic Storyline
Elle woods is a sorority queen gets dumped by her boyfriend Warner and heads for Harvard Law School, Elle takes matters
into her own hands by wanting to prove herself to him by working hard to get into Harvard Law School and win him back. But Warner has already got another interest of his old sweetheart from his prep school Vivian Kensington and he has already popped the question to her!! Elle however is still determined to prove that she can make it and become a top student. Along the way there is lots of drama's ahead for her, She makes friends with a beauty therapist, becomes accepted as part of a group who work together on a case in court but does she get justice?? And does she get Warner back??
My opinion
With all the familiar actors in this film it is brilliant and the typical blonde stereotype! I really enjoyed all the cast performances, especially Selma Blair who plays Vivian Kensington she is such a bitch and plays it off so well, she comes up against Elle which causes a brilliant stir and atmosphere. Luke Wilson who plays Emmett is also great, at first Elle just assumes he is a student like her when she chucked out of her first class…and she rants on to him until she realises his identity, but they click which is great and become quite a team together. Matthew Davis however who plays Warner I wasn't really impressed with him, I feel they could of casted someone much better than him to play the part as he just seems so DULL and BORING to be honest…!! Paulette played by Jennifer is sooooo funny indeed, she plays a blonde too and is quite dizzy to be honest, she likes the postman who comes to her work but is too shy to approach him until Elle teaches her a little trick…it is when Elle is at the nail place with Paulette that she realises that she must carry on at Law school and achieve when her professor Stromwell is getting her hair done and says to Elle "If your going to let one stupid prick ruin your life…your not the girl I thought you were". Holland Taylor who plays Professor Stromwell is really funny and good but I do prefer her in Harry Potter also playing a professor!! Being a blonde and knowing so much about beauty products and essentials works a treat for Elle as she uses it to her advantage!!!! Also working with Law she manages to get Paulette's beloved dog back for her when confronting Paulette's Ex. Elle adds so much glamour, honour and justice to the film. But I must admit there is some love for Elle but is it with the guy she wanted when she first started Law School or is it someone else???
Other info
The film is rated a 12 as there is some language in the film, it runs for an hour and half and the film can be watched with subtitles. I got this film in Woolworths for £3 in there sale, which was pretty good I think. I'm sure you can still get it for around that price too… The film was actually nominated for 2 Golden globes, 9 other nominations and won 6 awards…Go Legally Blonde Team!!
Special Features on the DVD

Would I Recommend??
Indeed I would, it is a fab film and I think Reese Witherspoon is really good in this film!! Oh I forgot to mention her Elle's dog which is also normally matching wearing a matching outfit to Elle. Very Pink Film!!! Thanks for reading Mell (June 2008)
