I am a big fan of most ‘chick flicks’. I know they are usually soppy romantic comedys, but that’s what is good abut them. I usually go to the cinema to watch a film and then if I have liked it I will buy it on DVD when it is released.
I was a big fan of Legally blonde when that was first out, and when I heard that they were making a second film I could not wait to go and see it. I enjoyed this film too and now own it on DVD.
Legally Blonde 2 stars Reece Witherspoon as Elle Woods and Luke Wilson as Emmett Richmond (her fiancee) In this film Elle Woods has completed her law degree and then gets the sack from her job. She is planning her wedding to Emmett and wants to reunite her cute little dog Bruiser with his mum. Elle finds out that his mum is being used to test cosmetics on and wants to pass a law to make animal testing illegal. To do this Elle has to go to Washington. She gets a job there and begins her mission.
Elle is always happy and looks on the bright side of all situations. She introduced the snap cup in her new office when her colleagues were not getting along. They all had to write something positive about each other and then Elle would read them out. This didn’t work to well as I am sure it wouldn’t in most offices.
In the film there is alot of the original cast from the first movie and she also meets some other interesting people. The doorman at the hotel where she is staying is very helpful. Elle also finds out that her dog is gay and he develops a special friendship with a rotweiler
The film runs for approximately 1hour and 30 minutes and is rated as a PG.
As with most DVD’s there are some special features for you to watch too. These are:-
Blonde ambition. This has the directors talking about how they chose the cast and how they shot the film. It also has the actors telling us what it was like to work with each other.
Pretty in Pink. This is the director telling us about the research that they had to do in Washington to make the scenery look realistic. They also tell us how they had to make Elle bight by wearing bright clothes whereas other people in Washington wear black and grey suits. They wanted Elle to look more mature than in her last film.
Star and stripes Never. In this extra feature it has Reece Witherspoon talking about her wardrobe for the film. It tells how they chose her clothes. Her clothes for the film are very expensive and more sophisticated than before. For every outfit that Elle wears in the film the dog Bruiser has an outfit to match.
Hair Apparent. This is where they talk about Elle’s hair during the film and that it always has to be perfect. All of the hairstyles in the film are wigs, which I thought was very interesting because I really could not tell. They tell us how they made the wigs into each style.
Elles Anthem. Here they have an orchestra and they record music to be played during the film.
Outtakes and gag reel. Here they show all the bits where the cast forget their lines and one where Reece Witherspoon is walking to the bench and trips up. Some of these are quite funny.
Deleted scenes. There are 7 deleted scenes that did not make it to the final film. None of these would have added anything to the film.
Also included in the special features are the music video ‘We Can’ by Leann Rimes, the theatrical trailer that was used to promote the film, a preview to the Sims2 game and a photo gallery. There is an interactive quiz to Delta Nu where you answer questions about the university house the Delta Nu’s that Elle belonged to. Unfortunately I failed the test because I got three questions wrong. I will have to watch the dvd again to find the answers.
If you are a fan of ‘chick flicks’ and the first Legally Blonde film then you will probably like this too. It is funny and predictable as you would expect it to be.
