- - Cast. - - Elle Woods - Reese Witherspoon. Emmett Richmond - Luke Wilson. Sidney Post - Bob Newhart. Victoria Rudd - Sally Field. Grace Rossiter - Regina King. Margot Chapman - Jessica Cauffiel. Serena McGuire - Alanna Ubach. Paulette Bonafonte - Jennifer Coolidge. Libby Hauser - Dana Ivey Stanford Marks - Bruce McGill.
- - The Plot. - - In the not-as-successful follow up to 2001's Legally Blonde, Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is back and this time she's fighting against animal testing in the cosmetics industry. Determined to send her little chihuahua Bruiser's mom an invite to she and Emmett's wedding, Elle discovers that Bruiser's mom is a test subject in a cosmetics lab. Horrified, Elle takes the case to the senior partners of the law firm she now works at, where, predictably, she gets fired. So, she gains new employment as Legal Aid to Victoria Rudd and heads to Washington to speak for those who can't speak for themselves and get animal testing banned. In a similar way to that of the first film, Elle's new collegues take an immediate dislike to her, her pink outfits, and positively sunny personality. In between planning her wedding to Emmett, whom she has left behind at home, Elle's first task is to get a hearing for her bill against animal testing - Bruisers Bill. At first Congresswoman Libby Hauser and Chairman Stanford Marks are unapproachable and unwilling to listen to Elle, but with the help of Sid Post, doorman of the hotel she's staying at, Elle wins them over and gets her hearing, but things are never that simple and Elle's boss, Victoria Rudd, suddenly withdraws her support, without which Bruisers Bill can't go through. She tells Elle that Grace, one of her co-workers had struck a deal, making her withdraw her support of Elle's bill. Just as Elle is ready to give up and go home, her new colleagues, apart from Grace, persuade Elle to stay, and get a discharge position on Bruisers Bill - a task requiring 218 signatures before the bill can be passed. Elle quickly calls in reinforcments - Margot, Serena, and Paulette from the first film, and the entire Delta Nu soroity house! She takes her fight for animal rights to the people of America, organizing The Million Dog March and other fun, happy pink things such as Paulette's free hair cuts! Elle quickly discovers that it's not Grace, but Victoria Rudd herself who has been rallying against them, a fact she figures out based on her knowledge of facials! The outcome is quite predictable from here on - with the help of Grace, Elle gets the 218 signatures she needs and Bruisers Bill is passed, proving that justice is indeed, blonde.
- - The Acting. - - I think the acting is brilliant, once again. Jennifer Coolidge as Paulette gets a chance to shine, and has some of the best lines in the film. Sid Post is also a favourite character, as he's very sweet and supportive of Elle, and he believes she can do it when nobody else does. Luke Wilson, sadly, has a very small part in this film as Elle's fiancee Emmett, which I am very upset about, because I absolutely love Luke Wilson (and his brother Owen!) and he could've been used so much more, and had lots more screen time. I was glad to see Margot and Serena back, as Elle's Delta Nu soroity sisters. I think they were under-used in the first film, although they had two of the best characters in the movie. Sally Field was perfectly cast as Victoria Rudd, you love and hate the character just the right amount, and at just the right moments.
- - The Comedy. - - Legally Blonde 2 is a very funny film, it made me laugh out loud quite a few times. Although there is a serious message throughout the whole of the film, there are also some trademark Elle Woods truly funny moments. The humour is similar to that of the first film, but in many ways, I find this one funnier. My favourite parts of the film, without giving too much away, are the gay dogs, and the interns in room 216 subplots.
In an idea 'borrowed' from LR_17, I'll include some of my favourite quotes...
Elle: All day long I've felt like white open-toed shoes after labor day. Sid: I hate that feeling... Whatever that means.
Elle: Oh, I'm sorry. Elle Woods, new legislative aid to congresswoman Victoria Rudd. Sid: Sid Post, doorman. That door.
Emmett: You fall asleep during the West Wing. Elle: Yeah, but have you seen what they're wearing?
Elle: Paulette, I taught Bruiser to shop online, I think I can handle congress.
Elle: I didn't know I could be this happy without incurring credit card debt!
Elle: Most dogs like to chew your shoes, but Bruiser liked to wear mine. I just thought he liked the height.
- - The Soundtrack. - - In my opinion, the soundtrack to this movie isnt as good as the soundtrack to the first film, but thats not to say it doesnt include some cracking songs - The best is probably We Can by LeAnn Rimes, a line from which is the title of this review. Breakthrough by Hope 7 is a good one as well. Also included are Me Against The World by Superchick, I'm Just A Bill by Deluxx Folk Implosion, Atomic Dog by George Clinton, Power To The People by John Lennon, and Nobody's Fool by Avril Lavigne. The soundtrack is again an upbeat and happy one, with a real message of 'power to the people' but it's not quite as catchy as that of the first film, or as 'girlie' for that matter.
- - Me. - - If you havent already guessed, I love this film. The first Legally Blonde is probably my favourite movie of all time (If you're interested, I've done a review on that one too!) I never saw this in the cinema, so I couldn't wait 'til it was released on 1st December 2003, when I rushed down to my local Tesco to buy a copy. I picked up the VHS version for £9.99 and the DVD was there for £11.99, it's still widely available in most shops, and I should imagine the prices are still in that range.
I love this film for much the same reasons as I love the first one - because it's an upbeat happy film about believing in yourself, even when others doubt you and knowing what you want and not being afraid to go out and get it. It's also about standing up for your beliefs, and doing what's right. Again, it's good to see that Elle doesn't change when people are cruel to her, she sticks to her guns, doesn't stop being herself and does it "the Elle Woods way."
Another hit of this film for me, are the clothes and, more importantly, the shoes (all Jimmy Choo's.) Although, if you don't like pink, this is probably not the film for you!
I put this on when I'm feeling down, when I'm worried about something or when I doubt myself. It always makes me feel better, and occasionally has me in tears! I've watched this about 10 times now, and I never get tired of it. Having just written about it, I feel like my tape on again now!
Well, with rumours of Legally Blonde 3 in the pipeline, all I can say is that I hope it's true, and they hurry up and make a third one!

...failures. The first addition of Legally Blonde was brilliant and I absolutely loved it but was my feelings of this one to be the same? I was staying overnight at a friends and we had decided we would go out the next day but we had no idea where. We had seen pretty much everything that was out to see at the pictures, we didn’t fancy ice-skating and the boys didn’t weren’t too keen on shopping. It was then that I remembered. August 1st was the release ... ...to see this and so were the boys after a few stretches of the truth! I had read a few reviews of this which were all good and judging from the trailers it looked really good and if the quality of the first instalment was anything to go by then this would be a kick ass film. After about 20 minutes of worthless adverts, eating (and throwing) popcorn ...

...in the first of the Legally Blonde films was the best move Elle could have ever made.
The soriety sister’s wedding plans are cruising along nicely as she spends her days pondering pink seating plans and cultivating the all important guest list. There’s just one problem. Legally Blonde 2 is not a film meant to be taken seriously. Following on in the same vein as the first movie it’s a tongue in cheek, light - hearted celebration of all things pink that verges on the unbelievable and is, at times, nothing but silly. However, Reese Witherspoon positively shines in her role as "Capital Barbie" Elle making the few really funny scenes in this movie truly memorable. For not all of the ...

Legally Blonde 2: Bigger, Bolder, Blonder
To give it it's UK subtitle. It's as though we in the UK cannot understand the reference Red, White and Blonde, which is the US subtitle.
With sequels there are two schools of thought - either you really try to make the next movie different and try to take the characters in whole new directions, or you just rest on your laurels. With Legally Blonde 2, it's very much in the latter ... ...she was in the first Legally Blonde, but due to over familiarisation with the character you find that you don't warm to her as much. Elle doesn't seem to have much chance to grow as a character and as such comes across as a bit one dimensional. It isn't Ms Witherspoon's fault, as we have witnessed her fantastic performances in other movies, such as Election, one of my favourite films.

I went to see LegallyBlonde at the cinema when I won tickets for it on the Radio. Believe me, it wasn't my preference to see this film as it sounded stupid and unfunny but what the hell, it was free. Then this year, I got LegallyBlonde and LegallyBlonde2: Red, White And Blonde as a present. The person who gave me was a bit misguided on what would be great birthday present but I forgave them.

DVD Description
Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) returns in all of her pink splendour in this sequel to LEGALLY BLONDE. This time, spunky lawyer Elle is in the midst of planning her wedding to law professor Emmett Richmond (Luke Wilson) when she realises that she has to locate the mother of her pet Chihuahua, Bruiser, in order to include her on the guest list. A detective locates Bruiser's mother, only to find her in an animal testing facility. Determined to put an end to the practice and to free Bruiser's mum in time for the wedding, Elle heads to Washington, D.C. to work as a legislative aid to fellow Harvard Law alum, Representative Victoria Rudd (Sally Field). Unfortunately, Capitol Hill isn't as welcoming as Elle had hoped, and she finds herself learning about the darker side of Washington politics. Undeterred, the ever-optimistic Elle enlists her friends to help in her campaign to stop animal testing. Witherspoon is delightful as the wide-eyed, good-hearted Elle. Bob Newhart stars as Elle's politically aware doorman, and Jennifer Coolidge reprises her role as Paulette, Elle's personal beauty consultant. Directed by Charles Herman-Wurmfeld, the film also stars Regina King, Bruce McGill, and Dana Ivey.
