~ Slide with the Time ~
Last night I went to visit my mum like I do most Mondays. Since moving I always dedicate a weekday to see her. After catching up and having a rant about the most common crap things in life we wanted something good to watch. Sliding Doors has been out for over ten years and we have watched it about twenty times but it is still really good, and one of those films you can watch however many times. We do actually own the film on VHS somewhere which shows how old it is. I remember first watching it on TV though a few years ago. There are some recognisable actors involved and I quite like Gwyneth Paltrow. I think she is a very good actress and even though she does not appear in big blockbusters, all her films are soft and well performed. So after discovering this was on I was pleased of the choice as it is ...
Advantages: Easy To Watch Disadvantages: Nothing Fantastic
Sliding Doors is a film which brings to the screens the question ?what if?? it was released in 1998 and is still managing to bring in plenty of viewers due to its unique story and layout which has been copied, but not as successfully, since.

This small event in Helen?s life changes everything and the consequences of either one is flashed back to throughout the film, and she experiences ...
Advantages: Strong performances by a talented cast Disadvantages: A bit more gratuitous violence than you'd want young children to witness
Note: Some plot details are disclosed in this opinion.

With a script that is largely unmarred by shades of moral gray, good is clearly good, evil is clearly evil, marital love and fidelity triumph over all challenges, and justice prevails at the end of the day. It is, in a word, wholesome.
Toss in a healthy dose of standing stones, Highland lochs, and good Scottish scenery in general, and--well, you just about have to like this movie. At least, Himself and I do. We own a VHS copy, and when we crave escape to the Highlands or exposure to political and personal honor (try to find either these days), we pull out Rob Roy for uplifting dose of courage and valor--plus a wee bit or romance.
During its best moments, this film makes ...
