Lee Evans is a stand up comedian that first gained notice in the early 90's as a result of his energetic performances & funny voices. He is known for having a Norman Wisdom style of comedy & is one of the leading stand up comics in the UK.
He isn't just a stand up comedian though. He's also famous for being a musician, one of his trademarks is that at the end up every stand-up show he plays the piano while singing a song that he has written. He has been in several big budget films as well, most notably the huge hit 'There's Something About Mary'.
He's released endless DVD's of his stand-up shows & they have all been extremely successful. His most recent 'Live At The 02' was number one for numerous weeks in the run up to Christmas.
In 2005 Lee Evans broke the Guinness World Record for a solo act performing to the biggest comedy audience. He played to 10,108 people in the Manchester Evening News Arena beating the record previously set by Eddie Izzard of 8,700.
I'm a massive fan of Lee Evans & along with Alan & Jimmy Carr is my favourite comedian. He is utterly hilarious there is no other word for it. This DVD had me & my whole family in stitches from start to finish on Christmas day. The way he can move & use his body for comic effect is a breath of fresh air & steps away from the normal stand-up comedians, this guy is in a league of his own. This DVD is about 2 hours long... some may say it's too long I myself say it should be longer as i could sit & watch him all day.
He is famous for being observant & notices behaviour of men & women that others may not. I have heard him talk about his wife in many of his stand-up routines & he does it in such a great way that it doesn't come across as sexist or egotistical & even has the women in the audience in stitches as well as the men.
I bought this as a Christmas present for my Dad from WH Smith & it cost me £17.99 which is very expensive but I found it was out of stock in every other place I looked which just proves how popular he is. It is currently available from play.com for £14.99 & includes the 'Making It Big Featurette'. If £14.99 is too expensive for you then there's numerous other DVD's that he has released, the cheapest being £6.99 however that is for his series 'So What' not his stand-up routine. His stand-up DVD's seem to be around £14.99 probably because they are still selling so well.
I'd recommend this to any Lee Evans fan or anyone that hasn't seen him before as you will immediately fall in love with him, I know I have & I will purchase anything that he releases as he seems to just get better & better. I have numerous Lee Evans DVD's in my collection & enjoy watching them over & over. They're guaranteed to cheer you up!
