Laurel and Hardy - BRATS ================ This is a single DVD Starring the eternally funny Laurel and Hardy.
The Boys: ======== Stan Laurel (June 16 1890 – February 23 1965). Real name Arthur Stanley Jefferson. Stan was born in Lancashire but toured with Charlie Chaplin and hence on one tour ended up in America. He had ‘Arrived’
Oliver Hardy (January 18 1892 – August 7 1957). Real name Norvell Hardy. Ollie was born in Harlem, Georgia and his mother was apparently responsible for him going into theatre. Right from early childhood Ollie had a beautiful singing voice. Soon the two would meet.
They first appeared together in a silent movie called ‘Slipping Wives’ in 1927. The rest is history.
This film has some 'Special effects' in it. I use the word loosely. The furniture, beds, tables etc.. In some shots have obviously been built extra large.
Stan and Ollie have been entrusted by their wives to baby sit their children. Their two boys are played of course by themselves. The boys play little kids who constantly fight and bicker as only they can. This winds Ollie up no end; it doesn't help his mood that he is also getting beat at draughts by Stan! In the end after a particularly loud crash the 'Kids' are sent to bed. Stan accidentally leaves a tap running in the bathroom after brushing his teeth and the bathroom starts to build and build with water. Stan and Ollie come to tuck the children in and Ollie junior asks for a glass of water.... Well you can guess the rest.
Here we find their usual brand of ‘Cartoon Humour’ where no one actually gets hurt but it all looks very painful. A wonderfully inventive and fun packed film. They employ every trick they have learned over their careers and put it to great use in this short film.
Lots of their prat falls, slaps and gags packed into this little gem of a film.
No extras to speak of but you really only need Laurel and Hardy to have a good time. Runtime 20 minutes, but it’s a very funny 20 Mins.
BRATS
=======
A single DVD but one of their funniest short films.
Stan and Ollie are baby sitting their children whom are of course played by themselves surrounded by huge oversized furniture. Their wives have warned them that when they get back there had better be no mess, slim hope.
First Stan and Ollie try to play draughts and then billiards but the kids are being very naughty and eventually Ollie sends them up to bed.
LITTLE Ollie asks LITTLE ... ...but of course little Stan is a carbon copy of his dopey dad and so leaves the tap running filling the bathroom to exploding.
Of course big Stan and Ollie call in to check on them just as the bathroom door explodes and just as their wives return home, all hell is let loose.
A very very funny film and worth every pennie. Buy it you will not regret it. Lots of their trademark gags and pranks.
