Laurel And Hardy - TRIPLE BILL. =========================
The greatest comedy double act EVER, Once again, no arguments please.
The magnificent Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy star in this wonderfully funny DVD.
This single DVD contains the following 3 films:
WAY OUT WEST (black & white) WAY OUT WEST (colourised)
THICKER THAN WATER (black & white) THICKER THAN WATER (colourised)
ONE GOOD TURN. (black & white) ONE GOOD TURN.(colourised)
ONE GOOD TURN. ********************* Made in 1931 Stan and ollie are offered some food by an old lady but whilst at her house they overhear the landlord threatening her with eviction, not realising the old lady and the 'landlord' are in fact rehearsing for a play. They auction their car to help and the auction produces some classic hilarious Stan and Ollie moments. A superb short from the boys. Run time 20 minutes
THICKER THAN WATER. **************************** Made in 1935 Ollie listens to stan over money matters, as if you would!, and ends up wasting his and his wifes saving on an old grandfather clock. Mrs Hardy is not happy and puts poor Ollie in the hospital ! Here he receives a blood transfusion from Stan with hilarious results.
A very very funny short film, very memorable. Run time 20 minutes
WAY OUT WEST. ******************** Made in 1937. Stan and Ollie must deliver a deed for the ownership of a gold mine to Mary. Mary lives in Brushwood Gulch but the boys have already upset the sheriffs wife and are told to leave on the next stage coach out of town. They end up giving the deed to the wrong person but discover their mishap before leaving town and along with Mary set out to get the valuable deed back.
What ensues is the boys at their very best with every gag a cracker and the slapstick topnotch.
This is Laurel and Hardy's most remembered Movies in the main due to THE song, 'The Lonesome Pine'. Also contains Ollie's superb 'soft shoe shuffle' scene. For me, the most memorable Laurel and Hardy movie. Run Time 65 Minutes.
The colourised versions are fantastic to watch and worth the price on their own.
A DVD where all 3 films are very funny. You will not be disappointed.
Hope you enjoyed the review.
Greg.
