Directed by Graeme Campbell and Starring Delta Burke as Laura and Gerald McRaney as her husband.
Going for broke tells the story of Laura who has just moved to Reno with her new husband and children. At the start of the film we see as a successful career woman who seems to have the perfect family life.
All is going well and everything is fine until one night the family go for a meal and whilst there Laura has a go on a poker machine in the restaurants arcade and gets lucky and wins $100. She is very happy with her win as she says she has never won anything before.
At first it seems like an innocuous bit of fun and Laura's luck continues and she even meets an older woman who tells her how lucky she is. Winning obviously makes feel good and adds a thrill to her life.

Advantages: Acting Disadvantages: not as good as the book
...role. Louiso is great in his role as shy, retiring young man and Hjejle also plays Laura well.
With the sound track, the acting, the storyline, this film is definitely worth renting on video or DVD, however if you have read the book you may be somewhat disappointed at the translation of Rob on the big screen....

Advantages: Perfect for both of my kids Disadvantages: Nothing that springs to mind!!!
...I must admit that I bought this DVD based on the review by littlesusie. She claimed it was her 'best buy' at the Baby Show this year and although I didn't go, I can see why she is saying this.
So I ordered the DVD from the Oxbridge Baby website (www.oxbridgebaby.com) and it arrived the next day - a good start! We currently have 2 children, Laura (3 years) and Adam (18 months) with another one on the way and have a certain amount experience with some of the baby titles on the market (see my review for Baby Bright on this site).
Anyway we got the DVD and I was very keen to see what it was like, probably more than my kids at this point. The first thing of note is the cover of the DVD that features the same style of animation that is found in the title. There is a big green frog who is very cute.
