Last holiday is a truly delightful film. The plot consists of Queen Latifan playing the character called Georgia Byrd. Georgia is a clerk at a department store in New Orleans who is a brilliant cook. However no matter how passion she may be about a subject, she will not pursue her dreams, as she thinks about consequences first. After bumping her head, she’s admitted to have a MRI scan, when results come in she is quite upset to realise that she only has 3 weeks to live. Then for once in her life she is not thinking first, she raids all her savings and books one last holiday at a grand hotel. However, her wild spending, ruffles activities, and expensive tastes attracts attention of others staying in the hotel, and not being afraid to say what she thinks, she certainly causes a storm. This brilliant classic film is enjoyable to the whole family.
The hilarious comedy was directed by Wayne Wang, who also directed films like Blue in the face (1995) and Because of Winn-Dixie(2005) is very different to other films he has made. This is the only film directed by him that I can call one of my favourites.
Even through I enjoyed the film, it wasn’t admired by everyone, the film was nominated 5 times for awards like black movie award and image award, and however the film didn’t win any of them. This could indicate that even through I may have liked to film others may not find it interesting. This film is more about self image and being to sensible, which I consider I am , which is probably why I could watch the film over and over again.
The casting was a good choice to some extent, the main role played by Queen Latifah was brilliantly played and I couldn’t imagine another actor playing this part, she really gave soul to the character. However not all the casting I believe was a good choice, I was disappointed with the casting of Sean Matthews who is Georgia’s secret crush. This Role was played by LL cool J I didn’t think he really appealed to the role.
The running time of the film was a little longer then expected. The DVD lasted approx 112 mins, and this made the DVD feels like it was dragging on a bit, and I began very bored with the DVD. This film is rated 12A because of some sexual references, however these are very mild, and the film should have been rated PG.
The soundtrack isn’t very rememberable, as there are many songs on the soundtrack; however the only song I enjoyed was “I feel pretty”. After a relative bought me the soundtrack, I have only played it once, and that was only to play that song. Which I now believe was a waste of space and money.
The great scenery film came from the great filming locations, the film was located in Austria, which just added extra scenery to the film, which was very enjoyable.

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, which can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom, please let me know and I'll re-rate.

Advantages: Brilliant moral lesson to be earned out of the movie- MINUS the intense heavy and boring stuff! Disadvantages: Not as Romantic as I expected!

Review of Last Holiday (DVD)
Advantages: Entertaining (some parts quite funny) and touching, not too preach-y Disadvantages: a bit predictable, something is a little conveniently not mentioned at the ending
