Compared to other films by Director John McTiernan (Die Hard, Predator) this film is pretty weak. And Arnold Scwarzenegger has done better stuff. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it the first time round, when I was about 12, but it just does'nt fulfill my craving for action! Don't let the title fool you, it isn't jam packed with action....
The plot Danny Madigan (Austin O'Brien) is a massive cinema fan, and his favourite action hero is Jack Slater (Arnold Schwarzenegger), an OTT L.A. cop. Danny recieves a golden ticket from his best friend, the owner of his favourite cinema. While watching the new Jack Slater movie, the golden ticket glows blue and Danny lands up in the back seat of Jack's car. The ticket has put him in the movie, and things are not quite normal, such as everybodies phone number starts with 555, and more importantly, Jack can't die! Danny saw the criminals that killed Jack's Cousin at the start and so convinces Jack to visit their massive house.... The crooks then try to assassinate the cop and his side-kick, until one of them finds the golden ticket and realises it's full potential...
This is a comedy/action film, that points out mistakes in real films such as there are always nice looking women in shops etc! The cardboard cut-out of Syvestor Stallone as The terminator is quite funny!
Arnold Swarzenegger has played some good roles when not doing full-on action films, like Kindergarton Cop and Twins, but unfortunately this film lacks in pace and action. And Austin O'Brien is about the most annoying boy I have ever seen! He has a whiny voice that makes me cringe to the bone everytime he speaks!
The features are pretty much non-existant, just one featuette for fans.
Overall: 50% This is worth a watch once, but I wouldn't recommended buying it, unless for your kids. I know it's a 15 rating, but kids love it! All in all an average film

I quite enjoyed the film, yeah far from Arnie and Johns best but still never less then entertaining. I think it's underrated. As a suggestion I think your first paragraph shoulda been your last, but that's just my two cents...

A good review on an average film. I agree that it is worth watching, but not worth forking out cash for.
