Advantages: Much better quality than VHS Disadvantages: Absolutely none
For all of my life I have been a laurel and hardy fan. I was an advocate of the "old fashioned" vhs videos and had a great collection of all of the boys films, which I treasured, but was reluctant to play in case they got damaged. This new dvdboxset has been a godsend, in being concise, hard wearing, and excellent quality, so much so in I have even started given film shows, and lending the films out, to my sons to get them into carrying on the tradition of loving these great comedy genuises. There is even a range of colourised films included, which to a die hard B+W film lover was a shocking concept, but I must admit it was great to see the boys in the digitised colour versions of all of their classic films. My advice to all the L+H fans out there is to grab a boxset while they are available and give yourselves a treat. ...
Advantages: Funny- great entertaiment Disadvantages: None
Brilliant series with both actors complementing each other so well. Really funny and at times and some great story lines and emotional roller coasters of a plot. Can imagine two doormen like these two dopey guys .
Without out giving too much away the prison scene is so funny and the trouble these guys get themselves into is just hilarius and cringing at times. But who would wanna drop the soap in prison ??? lol
After watching this you will be singing the theme tune all the time for weeks on end.
Peter Kay is not only one funy person but and good actor.
This boxset is a must seeif you love comedy and that's what this seriously is. Best British comedy since Only fools and Horses ...
Advantages: Four classic comedies in one box, suitable for all ages. Disadvantages: No subtitles or special features.
The St. Trinians collection
This boxset contains all four of the original St Trinians films made in the 50's and 60's, and is a treat for anyone who likes classic British comedies, the first three are in black & white whilst the fourth is in colour.
Overview
St Trinians is an appalling shool for girls, which the ministry of education would love to close down, but no matter how much they try, they are thwarted at every turn by unscrupulous characters who have more to gain by keeping this terrible school open, and as a result, all at the ministry of education are at the point of having a nervous breakdown.
Half the teachers are desperate to get out of the place, but cannot afford to because they have not been paid for months, the other half only teach inbetween prison sentences and are glad of somewhere to stay whilst ...
