I will try and not become obsessed with typing about Angelina Jolie too much as I review "The Tomb Raider" D.V.D. However it would be unfair of me to ignore the fact that Angelina makes this film the excellent film that it so clearly is. I was unsure what to expect when I bought the D.V.D. but I knew that wether the film was good or not, I could watch that Gorgeous girl running around in tight clothes.
The film is rated "12", which I think is about right. Unfortunately there is no nudity, and the little violence which is in it is mild. Having said that, there is a lot of gun shooting and stabbing going on. Perhaps I have just contradicted myself a little, but if you watch this film you will see that it is definitley child friendly.
Lara Croft, the star of the show, is played by Angelina Jolie who you might have seen in "Girl Interrupted" with Winona Ryder, or "Gone in 60 seconds" with Nicholas Cage, to name but a couple.
Laras father is played by John Voight, who is Angelinas father in real life, and you may remember him from "Midnight Cowboy".
The Plot: -------- Lara is a tomb raider which entails finding and breaking into old tombs and burial chambers alike, and looking for buried and often protected treasures and artifacts. In this film she is looking for two pieces of a triangle, which when joined together will give the person holding them the power to control time. She is being closely chased by another Tomb raider and his team, who is determined to get his hands on the triangle first. There is a small element of a love interest in the film, but the director doesnt dwell on this for too long, after all Lara is an action character. I wont talk about the plot for too long as it is one of the weaker points in the film.
The Action: ---------- Angelina, did almost all of her stunts and built a physique for herself which most girls would die for. I cant think of a better person to cast for this film than Angelina, but then again I am biased. There is a lot of rolling about on the floor, jumping, kicking and punching throughout the film and it is all quite fluent and looks very realistic. Lara, even rides a motorbike, and a dog sled.
The Soundtrack: -------------- Excellent throughout with some very good dance tracks such as Basement Jacks "wheres your head at". And U2s "Elevation".
D.V.D. Extras ------------- It would take me far too long to describe all the extras on the D.V.D. as there are loads, however I will list them below, some are self explanatory anyway:- 1. Digging into Lara Croft - Interviews. 2. Crafting Lara Croft - Angelia Jolies training for the film. 3. The stunts for Tomb Raider 4. Visual Effects - 8 sequences 5. Are you game - Video game documentary 6. Comentary by the director - Simon West 7. 4 Deleted scenes 8. Alternate Main Title Sequence 9. U2 Music Video - Elevation.
D.V.D. ROM Features. Again it would take me forever to go indepth with these features but they include:- Acces to online experience, Game demo, Web site archives, and many, many more.
The film was released ny the "Mutual Film Company", and was filmed with "Dolby Digital"
All in all an excellent romp of a film, which will keep you on the edge of your seat, with a heroine who all blokes want to be with an dall girls want to be!

It seems strange how I used to be a sucker for over the top action movies but now I have gotten older my tastes have changed. Still I dont understand why I haven't seen this yet, especially seeing as Voight is a great actor and Jolie just looks lovely.

Advantages: Lara with true flesh. Don't have to "finish the game" to see how the story ends. Disadvantages: Lara's already existing biography has not been kept!
