Who has never heard about Lara Croft, the virtual character of the Tomb Raider games (already 5 have been released). Since her first appearance in 1995, Lara's fame kept growing so that she came back for 4 other adventures, with an always improved...shape (i'm indeed speaking about the number of polygons!:)).
Lara became very quickly much more than a simple video game character; except from her virtual adventures, the young lady also has a life. It is possible to find very easily her biography : i'm telling you quickly, Lara was born on Valentine day 1967 in a rich English family and was intended to become a " member of the high society ". But during a ski trip in Tibet, the plane crashed leaving Lara as the only survivor. Her miraculous survival revealed her her taste for action and adventure. Lara decided to become an archaeologist, which was apparently too much for her parents who chose to disinherit her. Some books about her adventures and the discovery of numerous treasures will fast allow Lara to find the wealth again...
Lara's role was put on by some official "stunt double" / models hired by Eidos (a new official model every year; there has been 4 at the moment), and also by lots of unofficial.
Year 2001: Lara comes back for a new adventure... at the cinema! Embodied this time by the actress Angelina Jolie (The Bone Collector, Gone in the 60 second...), Lara discovers a mysterious clock having belonged to her father. The clock contains a kind of key essential to find 2 fragments of an ancient artefact which would give to its owner control of Time. And here goes Lara all other the world again for the search of the legendary object, but she is not alone in this journey...
The history of the film is in complete lineage with the scenarios of the video games. The film is not badly realised and Angelina is rather credible in Lara's role (her hair is a bit too brown, and her voice lacks English accentuation, but her body's shape is just fine! :)); the action scenes are quite stunning, maybe a bit too fast at some point though; very great point : some outside scenes allow us to perceive some gorgeous landscapes from different places in the world.
Speaking about the fans of the video games, they might be a bit dissapointed... Lara will make only a few of her "famous" jumps, and none of the special moves. And more the film hardly takes into account Lara's "already existing biography ", inducing a number of incoherence... Personally the film did not particularly deprive me (but I am not a "huge" fan of the Tomb Raider serie), nor did i really enjoyed it. It is an average action movie that has the advantage of having a feminine Hero. Watch it with friends to spend 1 hour 30.

Well I finally got round to watching this movie and thought that it was really good. Never played the game before, so any ties in the movie to the game were lost on me :S Justin.
