DVD Description
A set of two action adventures featuring Oscar-winning actresses. It's the 25th century and a virus has wiped out most of the Earth's population. The last vestige of humanity lies beyond Bregna, a futuristic walled city in which the inhabitants live sterile, genetically controlled lives. An underground resistance group known as the Monicans send their top operative Aeon Flux (a raven-haired Charlize Theron) to assassinate Bregna's leader. Torn between her loyalty to her people and the desire to avenge her sister's murder, she is unable to complete her task, and ends up protecting the leader from his own brother. Based on a series of animated shorts that aired on MTV, this live-actioner delves deep into sibling relationships that often border on love and hate. Theron, who performed most of her own stunts, glides through the film in barely-there outfits, jumping, running, slinking, diving, and cart-wheeling her way through dangerous situations with animated ease. LARA CROFT - TOMB RAIDER stars Angelina Jolie as Croft, a tough, sexy, heavily armed adventurer. Fans of the cult video game on which the film is based will undoubtedly already be familiar with the plot, which sees Croft blasting her way past various monsters, villains, and pitfalls as she traverses the globe in search of a mysterious ancient artefact that holds the key to her dead father's involvement with a secretive group known as the Illuminati. Jolie is perfectly cast as the voluptuous, trigger-happy heroine, and sports a fine British accent.
Advantages: Good action shots, Angelina Jolie Disadvantages: Poor Story
...LaraCroft has made the transfer from computer generated heart throb in the tombraider games series to a star on the big screen in the form of Angelina Jolie in the smash film of the same name – ‘TombRaider’.
The film starts with a bang, seeing our heroine Lara face to face with a monster robot in an ancient ruin fighting for her life, guns blazing and some very nice moves. However it is all a mock, mere practice and relaxation for LaraCroft, but it fooled me into thinking it was real.
The real plot is LaraCroft is the daughter of the famous explorer Lord Croft, (Jon Voight) who was tragically lost or missing from one of his trips. Lara, (Angelina Jolie) has inherited her fathers’ sense of action and adventure herself, and finds her biggest challenge yet as she is out to protect the world from evil as...

Advantages: good special effects Disadvantages: none
...LaraCroft-TombRaider, this film was based on the british computer game and now it's a big film. I was put off seeing this film after reading the reviews in magazines, saying it was quite tacky and had no real storyline, so I thought I would go and see it myself.
I went to see the film and completely disagree with the film reviewers, Angelina Jolie was brilliant at the part of LaraCroft. The film did have a storyline it was about Lara have founding a clock that could change time, but she needed to find two parts of the triangle to stop it for good so that noone oculd take over and have so much power.
I think the special effects in this film were really good and it should get some praise fot it....

Advantages: Action packed, great effects, visually impresive. Disadvantages: some dodgy acting and dialogue
...A special effects laden jamboree of mythical skullduggery, ancient contraption-creating geniuses and the end of time and space as we know it if the evil bad guy gets his hands on it. A cross between Indy Jones and The Mummy.
LaraCroft (Angelina Jolie) is the TombRaider - a beautiful, adventurous, adrenalin gobbling junkie - very clever, very rich and very handy with a pair of pistols.
Now I have never played the game so I don't know if that is a good thing or not. I certainly can't compare the two so I can only comment on the film as I saw it (ie, no background knowledge of Lara, her skills, her foes, her friends etc).
The story is simple if a bit preposterous. Maybe good for a game but for a film, even a film of this sort, it's always better to base it on some sort of reality, like a maybe this is possible type of thing...
