Right, this is one of my first DVD reviews in a while as I decided to take a break from doing them, but I have a hell of a lot of DVD's to review so I decided to come back and start writing again!

Anyhow this is a DVD I bought because a few of my friends said it was funny, but I ended up having to watch the film twice because I was a bit tipsy the first time I watched this and ended up turning it off as I found it boring, but then I had another go at it (without drinking) and it worked and didn't found it too boring, but I failed to see much of the funny side!

There are quite a few famous faces that pop up in this movie... There is Seth Rogen, he plays Ben Stone, really well, and considering this whole movie is based around something that generally happens to somebody in this world about every other day (maybe I'm exaggerating a slight bit), and so Seth shows great acting skills, and it looks like he's just telling everybody who he really is because it's as if it would happen to him! I have seen this guy in a few films and trailers recently and think he is set out to be one of the big stars of tomorrow. He's played "B.O.B." in "Monsters vs. Aliens". He played the main guy called: "Ronnie Barnhardt" in "Observe and Report". In "Zack and Miri Make a Porno", he played "Zack Brown". And also "Dale Denton" in "Pineapple Express". "Mantis" in "Kung Fu Panda". "Morton" in "Horton Hears a Who" and "Hogsqueal" in "The Spiderwick Chronicles". They are there just to name a few. But there is a hell of a lot more which makes this film looks bad against his other films.

Another famous actress is the one who haves the role of Alison Scott. I think that Katherine Heigl is a good actress, but this film doesn't show it off too well. Many people reckon she plays the same parts in everything she's been in but I can't really judge comment on the fact that this is the only film I've seen her in. However a new trailer on our screens popped up which is called The Ugly Truth, which looks hilarious and definitely one that my mom will plan on buying on DVD when it comes out! Also she was in the well-known series: "Roswell". I put up my hands and announce that I have not watched any episodes, however I am currently reading the books that the series was based on called: "Roswell High". And Katherine Heigl plays "Isabel Evans", and can be seen on the cover of almost all of the books. And I would definitely say that Isabel is nothing like Alison and therefore I don't know why people think she plays the same sort of person.

Those 2 actors/actresses above are the main character in this film, however there is many other people in the film who are famous such as: "Pete" played by Paul Rudd ("Year One", "I Love You Man", "Monsters Vs. Aliens", "Role Models", "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", "Over Her Dead Body", "Night at the Museum", "The 40 Year Old Virgin", "Anchorman", "Friends (TV Series)"). There is also: "Debbie" played by Leslie Mann ("17 Again", "Drillbit Taylor", and “The 40 Year Old Virgin") and a few other people!

I hate thinking that I may have already bored you by now, and therefore I would really like comments helping me improve my DVD reviews. Anyhow I think I'm doing alright at the moment.

This story is a typical one at that! It has one of the simplest story lines, which can easily happen to anyone... The story firstly follows Alison, but then it quickly starts following Ben. Soon enough they meet up in a club as Ben helps Alison get some beer. Anyway... later that night Ben and her get together and they go to bed, only then realising early (luckily) that Ben hasn't got a condom on and so he's furiously trying to get one on when she says leave it! I bet you can guess what happens... Yup Alison ends up being pregnant and they (her and Debbie) don't want to believe it so they take about 100 pregnancy tests and they all say positive apart from the few that Debbie took.

Ben is a lazy person and so when Alison tells him, he ends up trying to see the reason why they need this and that for the baby. Eventually Alison realises it won't work (them being together) and so brakes up with him, but he's now realised that she's the love of his life and tries to get back with her for his dying love and for the baby, but will they work it out? Or will they be forever apart?

I think my plot is pretty good and makes this DVD seem brilliant; however I don't think it was as good as it could have been. This film shouldn't have had comedy in it as it just didn't work. I liked the pregnancy tests funny but that was about it. There were gags here and gags there but it seemed to me that the people who made and wrote this felt that this really couldn't happen in real life. But it's a typical story and I bet it's happened to quite a few people and the actors/actresses made it seem real, however the way it was written and made, made me think that they thought of it as one big joke. I think that this would have been made better if it knocked out all of the comedy and made it more serious, to the extent it can be.

My reason for rating this film a 3 stars/5 stars is that the comedy was funny to an extent that taking the Mickey out of somebody else can be. Also the acting skills of all the actors and actresses made me think that I was watching some real life story and that it was being told perfectly well. I did enjoy this film to an extent but I cannot pass much judgement on the whole funny side of things as I didn't laugh as much as I thought I would.

This DVD also contains "The MOTHER of all bonus features!" which I have not watched as I never do watch them and secretly think that they may spoil the film to a certain degree. So I never bother watching them... Anyhow here's the list of bonus features so that you can decide if they are good or not:

Disc 1
- 18 Hilarious deleted scenes, extended scenes and alternate cuts!
- Line-O-Rama - great lines to recite for years!
- Making of the Roller Coaster Scene
- Directing the director with Judd Apatow
- Laugh out loud with the gag reel!
- Topless scene - a new twist on baring it all!
- Loudon Wainwright III performing at McCabe's
- Audio commentary wit Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen, Bill Hader

Disc 2
- Production video diaries - an exclusive behind the scenes tour
- Get down and dirty with stripper confidential
- Blush at first sex on camera
- Plus... 28 deleted, extended and alternate scenes
- And MUCH, MUCH MORE

I'll admit that some of them sound good, when others sound down right horrible and especially some of them due to the fact that the film is certified as 15, but then again I am only 16 and very vulnerable, but I know there's a lot of teenagers my age who wouldn't care about some special features being horrible, they'd probably watch them without parents (unlike me where the house rule is that you have to watch a film with everyone in the house!)

Anyhow, if you are going to get this, I suggest you a) use a place where you can rent DVDs, or b) find the cheapest USED one as possible. I have given you these options because I ended up buying this DVD as part of the HMV 3 for £20 (now 4 for £20) sale, and I feel like I've thrown away my money to a certain degree, I hope you choose one of my 2 options above or this 3rd option I'm giving you now: don't buy it at all if you think you won't like it!

I'm pretty sure I have helped you out in 1 way or another and I sure hope that I can keep on reviewing!

Thank you so much for reading!

A good argument about it not being as funny as it could have been. (I haven't actually seen the whole film, but I've seen clips and some of them did make me think, "Is that meant to be funny?".)
