My plan was actually to go and see Knocked Up in the cinema when it was released in 2007, however I did not get round to it , and therefore waited for it to come out on DVD. I wanted to see Knocked Up because I had heard so many good reviews about it , and had even read somewhere that it was THE film of 2007 , and this is what made me look for the DVD on play.com. I was delighted when I saw that this DVD was selling for £3.99 ; an excellent bargain I thought , considering the film was such a success and the DVD hadn't been out that long. So when I saw it on the site , into my basket it went , and my next stop was the checkout!
As soon as the DVD arrived through my letter box , I was eager to watch it. So that evening I put aside time to watch this film.
Knocked up is a 2007 comedy film , directed by Judd Apatow. Running time of the movie is 133 minutes (Just over two hours). The film stars Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen as the main characters. Knocked Up is not suitable for viewers under the age of fifteen.
Alison is living a dream . She's beautiful , has a job every girl dreams of and wears her head on her shoulders. However , when receiving a promotion , Alison decides to let her hair down and go out to celebrate. However she lets her hair down a little to much! She meets a guy at a club and one thing leads to another….and she ends up pregnant!
This film is hilarious! The jokes are really funny (and extremely rude!!) and the casts' timing is perfect. I spent most of the time laughing at little things the characters say. Each character adds something special to the film. My favourite character was Ben (played by Seth Rogen) because I thought he had some really funny sayings and was full of humour. Each joke is natural and not 'forced' just to make the film appear humorous. I also liked how he was quite sensitive to some of the issues arising in the film. It was also quite funny how he didn't have a clue about women and how he tried to impress Alison with his stories about his 'lazy lifestyle'. I thought the storyline was different to that I have seen before. I liked how Alison and Ben had different views on the situation. Ben taking it lightly and finding it quite funny , whereas Alison was serious and really sensitive to the event. There are many emotions felt throughout the film ; laughter , happiness , sadness , fear , joyful ; all of which we feel with the character. If you fancy a night in with the girls , this is the film for you. It is great entertainment and definitely worth the £3.99 I paid! Although I thoroughly enjoyed this movie , it is a film I could not watch over and over again! However if you have not seen it ; buy it!
* Quotes *
Alison Scott: [to Debbie] What do you think? He's funny, right? Ben Stone: [to Debbie's kids] Fetch! Debbie: [to Alison] He's playing fetch... with my kids... he's treating my kids like they're dogs.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Ben Stone: Yeah, it's a cure-all. My buddy Jonah broke his elbow one time. He just smoked some weed. It still clicks, but it's cool.
Sadie: Where do babies come from? Debbie: Where do you think they come from? Sadie: Well. I think a stork, he umm, he drops it down and then, and then, a hole goes in your body and there's blood everywhere, coming out of your head and then you push your belly button and then your butt falls off and then you hold your butt and you have to dig and you find the little baby. Debbie: That's exactly right.
* Knocked Up Facts * The film was originally going to be 'The 40 Year Old Virgin' sequel. The Doctor in the film is a real life doctor. The kids in the movie are the directors kids in real life. Anne Hathaway was originally cast as Alison but pulled out , and then replaced by Katherine Heigl.
