I love Arnie films, he is just so funny and Kindergarten Cop is one of my all time favourites of his. Kindergarten Cop is a 1990 movie and is classified as a comedy thriller.
Like with all Arnie films it seems there has to be a bit of action and goodie v baddie scenes and this film is no different. Arnie plays, yep, you've guessed it, a cop called John Kimble. He is a bit hard nosed, brash and has been chasing the drug dealer Cullen Crisp for years. He finally nails him but is unable to convict him without testimony from his ex-wife. However, all is not as simple as it seems. His ex-wife has gone into hiding and no one knows who she is. Arnie must then go undercover at a Kindergarten to find the ex-wife and Cullen's son who is a pupil at the kindergarten.
They say you should never work with animals or children but that's exactly what Arnie does in this film. Imagine a tough, no-nonsense cop working as a kindergarten teacher and it conjurs up lots of comical situations which are really funny. Arnie seems an unlikely choice for an undercover kindergarten teacher but must step in when his female partner is unable to take the job. At first Arnie has no clue about how to teach or discipline the kids. He shouts, uses a whistle on them and has some eyebrow raising tactics. Slowly though, the kids begin to trust him and love him. The kids in this are really great and are very cute. There are lots of times when they say something really cute and you just end up going ahhh!
Arnie is great in this, yes he shows his tough, action adventure side but really he is just one big softy who wins the love of the kids and viewers alike. It's really quite a funny film with some quite tense, thrilling parts too with a good story line. Even if you don't like Arnie I'm sure this film could still appeal to you.
